Yesterday was so bad I forgot to wish everyone a happy Mabon. My weather went from summer to fall overnight, literally from 92 to 65 like it saw a State Trooper on the highway.
It was gorgeous outside. I wasn't going to go to the Applefest but friends wanted me to go to things tomorrow night but no one knew where they were and since I was going up to the gym anyhow, I checked it out. This is truly a disappointing festival in many ways. It's mostly midway games/rides for kids and uninspired food trucks you'll find at any fest (i.e. funnelcakes, walking tacos and corn dogs). I have never known where the entertainment is and until 2019 I had no idea there were crafters anywhere as the main street is all church groups and retirement home groups (no lie)
I did find a place to park to go to the crafters and there was one I liked basically crocheted/knitted collar/scarf things that buttoned, fashionable, warm without dangling scarf ends. I'm like christmas!...only she takes cash only and since I wasn't going to come here I didn't get cash. I had enough for one (Mom's or mine if she doesn't like it) I did get myself a fossil necklace and a stone phone holder (more like remote holder for my parents) made of flint from flint ridge Ohio at the famous
Nethers Farm So I go to the midway and ask the ladies working the program booth for the fest where is the General Mills theater. They have NO IDEA. OMG, there are like 4 stages with things going on and you don't know where? They look in the program and hand me the map. I hand it back and say there's NO STAGES on this. They look at me shocked and no there wasn't. They point me men with walkie talkie's they might know. They might but they were NOT happy to talk to me (i'm like again this is the job you volunteered for). Turns out they're the areas where two bleacher sets have been weighted down. Oh hell no. I told my friends hard pass on going back tomorrow to sit on them to listen to Mothman (was it a movie? A talk? I have no idea)
I grab a boba tea from my tea house (and again they prove disappointing because watermelon tasted like nothing at all but the popping bobas were nice) and went home without eating from there.
Oh and I stopped at the library's book sale and they have edited their apple fest hours being closed on Saturday and complaining not many are here for the sale. Um you have the hours 10-5, exactly how do people who work get here?!? I did get stupid books because I needed to do that right? Where I'm gonna put them I do not know.
Oh I DID get a fried apple fritter to support Buckeye HIlls career center. Basically they fried a hand pie. I'm not sure HOW hot they got this thing but after buying it, I went and got my boba tea and walked three blocks back to the car (and as you can imagine I'm not fast). I sit down and dig in and the apple filling is like fucking napalm. I have a blister on my palate from teeth to soft palate, sort of like that popping boba but I'm sure it won't taste as good when it pops. I might have died had tried to eat it right when they handed it to me.
Oh and I donated to the humane society which here means three angry women who do it out of their homes.
I got my
wipbigbang edited and ready for posting this weekend. I am pleased.
And thanks to Betty for pointing me at this. I did sign up (though why they want a physical address is weird to me)
