a surprise festival
Oct. 15th, 2022 09:48 pmI have no idea what was going on in Pullman Square but the garage for the square mall was filled and there was no where to park. the street was blocked off with a 'tickets' both. So I didn't get my comic books (and drove 30 mile round trip out of my way as a result so I was annoyed). Even when I came home I didn't get a straight answer as to what was going on because all I could find was farmer's market but I've never seen one of those when the main artery thru town closed off with police directing traffic and fill up parking garages/ Weird.
Heck even on my way down there I went past the Bob Evans exit like 30 minutes later than I went to the fest yesterday and the traffic was dead ended 1 mile before the exit (and this is why we cancel classes and why I go on fridays).
So I went to the mall and really still found nothing I wanted at Spirit Halloween or Michael's. No one has the heavy resin gravestones this year, just the styrofoam nonsense that I don't want. Spirit Halloween was a disappointment in general. Michael's had moved on to Christmas which makes sense (being a craft store, you need to give crafters a few months lead time) and I found a Lemax Pub for the Christmas village. More money than I wanted to pay but it was on sale. That's about all I bought there.
Macy's might have the ugliest summer clothes but they do better for fall/winter. I found three shirts, two for work (one for 8$ and one for 15, and a sweatshirt that was ironically the most expensive at 24$) I passed on Clinque's gift because it was only moisturizer/soap mascara and eyeliner none of which I use so that's disappointing. Speaking of disappointing, slacks at Macy's. Most still had no pockets (OMG give women fucking pockets FFS) Only one pair did, designer (Anne Klein) for 130$. N ope, keep those.
Books a million has SO. MUCH. Manga these days but my problem is, I'm back logged on ones I have been reading and finding new stuff has been so hit and miss lately. I'm finding it hard to find ones that are a) action oriented without being exploitive to women b) are action oriented without being insanely violent for the sake of violence (in other words I'm search for the next Fullmetal Alchemist or Saiyuki and can't find it). I did pick up one so we'll see how it goes.
TJ Maxx/Home Goods disappointed me in not really having anything I wanted/needed for the bathroom (we have no Bed Bath and Beyond and I'm trying to not ship a fuck ton of stuff here if I can avoid it) the Halloween offerings were not my tastes either. They weren't bad just not me. I did get a few weird food things from Italy AND a Santa on skies for Mom's collection (She's going to kill me, well Dad is) Mom has over 100 Santas (and guess who will one day have way too many Santas.)
It was another beautiful day out. I wish I could have gone hiking.
