Somehow this year it became imperative to see the state I live in. It's one of the reasons I've been to Marietta twice this year and I'll be in Cincinnati in a few days. I go to Chillicothe once a month in all that time I have NEVER been to the Adena Mansion. I tried this summer but for some reason it was locked. (The person I talked to wasn't sure why either).

So I went today during their Christmas event. I enjoyed it. It's older than I thought, dating to 1807. It's made of sandstone and quite large for that time period as this was the Northwest territory at that time period and was under the control of the people who should have retained it, the Shawnee and Adena. Sadly we know that wasn't how it was going to go.

this got long )

From there I went to Rost, the coffee shop and wrote and panicked because I couldn't find my flash drive. I knew I put it in the messenger bag and I swore I felt it but couldn't find it. SIGH. I still got some writing in.

Up next was TJ Maxx to look for a gift for my senior. Honestly the towels weren't worth going up there so I'm really glad I went to the mansion or it would have been a waste. Oh I still bought them since I was there (vs Wal-Mart) and I did get other nice things to add in as stocking stuffers including nonsense for me.

Stopped in the big Kroger's there to get Fontina cheese (mine doesn't have it) and then decided since I had no lunch besides half the very dry gingerbread muffin at Rost (I brought the rest home to put cinnamon butter on hoping to make it less dry) I'm going to Red Lobster for that reasonably priced faux-kung po shrimp pasta thing...which they DO NOT have. What they do have is very expensive (and if I had remembered hey dumbass you're eating out tuesday-thursday next week I would have left) So holiday trio it is at way too much money but you know what, this semester was hard and I deserved a treat.

Got home and emptied the computer bag. Found the flashdrive. It had found its way into a small hole in the pocket and was between the liner and the leather. Somehow it got in there with no problem. Took me five minutes to fish the damn thing back out because the hole was so small.

Two days of tea because I forgot Day 9 of tea
Adagio - arabica mocha. If you're thinking that sounds like coffee, yeah me too. It's actually made of coffee leaves (which are caffeine free) and in this blend also yerba mate (a south american tea that I was first introduced to in grad school) that's high caffeine. Chickory and chocolate hazelnut were mixed in. There is a certain funk to it. It was good but I could have done without that chocolate

Yawn Brew - Yorkshire. Man, sometimes a completely unadorned black tea is just the best thing ever and this one was. Loved it.

Day 10 of tea
Adagio - White pear. I'll be honest I'm not a fan of white teas. They're more expensive because it's generally hand picked but it's also low caffeine and subtle taste because it's mostly buds and new leaves. To me it's too subtle. That said, this one is very nice. THe subtle tea taste allows the pear to shine.

Yawn Brew - Again I feel like a Chopped Judge. Someone needs to take whoever is naming these teas aside and either check their taste buds or their naming skills. This was called Movie Night Popcorn. Great name. It would have been good with that genmaicha popcorn tea. This has NONE of that. It's a rooibos with pomegranate and calendula. I would have called it weekend sangria or something because the pomegranate gives it that winey taste. It has a good taste but a bad name.
