Today was emotionally too much
Mar. 9th, 2023 10:54 pmAll over this steam camp thing. Now L. is fretting and fretting and fretting over a) not being able to get the class she wanted b) discipline is going to be a problem, it's going to be don't you think so. c) did you get my email about blah blah blah.
I nicely said I wasn't worried about that. I politely said if you're this off put by this don't do it (it's voluntarily) Finally I snapped out and said DO NOT DO IT THEN! Christ on a Crutch at this point I don't want to do it just so I can say I'm not doing it don't bother me with this.
I did spend a lot of today researching things to do with fifth graders in science. I'm excited about it actually and yes to the teachers on my list, if you know good science experiments for fifth graders point me at them. Bonus points if they're environmentally related. I truly believe if we can instill respect for the environment and a love of science in the young we'll get better adults.
My students apparently thought spring break started yesterday because in micro in the afternoon I had 6 out 20 students and in a &p after that I had 12 out of 40. So I handed out bonus points to those students. It's this every year. They literally decide to go to spring break a week early and then expect you to let them make it up later. Uh huh, not how this works.
I came home to the news that one of the long term members of my writers group has passed away. It seemed to go fast. Last round he mentioned he had been diagnosed with cancer. He was gone less than two months later.
I have a LOT of communities this week for you. I culled them from several on my flist.

ladiesbingo which is a bingo challenge for creative works about the relationships between women. This is the last month of this. It runs Sept-March so it's something I'll do next time. So many of us still tend to write the guys, myself included. I should and will write more women. (Actually I hate to say it but writing m/m professionally for years makes me feel like I can't write women. Right now in my horror and UF stories I'm trying to do women)
genfreeformexchange This one I usually do, nominations are now. I love gen fic, often preferring it to shippy stuff. However this year I'm not doing it because of the novel. I must concentrate on that not to mention the two outstanding Prodigal Son stories + the FTH story I'll be starting. (and I want to do that trailer park long short story thing)
fffc a flash fic challenge. I might give this a try in the fall. Sounds fun.
