On FB I saw that Point Pleasant WV (yes Mothman country) was having a Tribute to the River festival with sternwheelers and some things going on otherwise. I decided why not because I do like sternwheelers and I won't go to the Marietta sternwheeler fest because of the sheer number of people in a small town. And I wanted to see the new murals on their floodwall (which was inspired by other nearby towns like Portsmouth)

So I get there and it's nearly 90 but I'm ahead of the storm I know is coming. The flood wall murals were down right amazing. As you walk through the gate to the ampitheater where I should have braved the heat, there's a colonist on one side and chief Cornstalk of the Shawnee on the other and that is just how they did the mural. One whole side was given over to the Shawnee people (and didn't shy away from the murder of Cornstalk). The other side was all the revolutionary war stuff (I want to know what Scottish earl Dunbarr had to do with this) The whole thing is 150 feet long (there are some blank walls still, not sure why)

The sternwheelers were cool. I had seen a few of these in Marietta two years ago. I really loved the Pearl Anne until I saw the Trump poster in the window...I did wish there had been anyone on the dock to talk to. I saw no one. It was a ghost town so that was a bit disappointing.

Also I could find NONE of the other stuff that was meant to be going on there. I wasn't too put out by that as it was meant to be geared to kids. Instead I went into the new Mothman trading company, a story that houses the black light mothman mini golf (gotta do that) and it's FILLED with cryptid related everything (guess where I'm doing my holiday shopping) I also went to the Mason Jar, the local antique shop. I bought a 'wine cooler' in heavy ceramic with cucina italiana on it. I doubt it's old but it was six bucks and I can put utensils in it.

I was going to go to the flawed frog (another new store in the area) I have NO idea what it is and has no online presence but the clouds had arrived so I went into the coffee grinder to get a mocha to go...but they're slow (the teen goth girl loved my Huskerdust stuff on my purse) the storm arrived. I was stuck there. It was also raining inside the coffee house. uh-oh. Spoke to tourists trying to help them find a) things to do b) places to eat. The rain is much needed but came in so very hard that by the time it slowed enough to race to the car, it was over my shoes in the street (in fact the streets were so flooded it made me rethink even considering moving there)

The storms came off and on all day but again we need the rain. Knocked my power out too but at least NOT during the online Abney Park concert showcasing their new album/novel combo. However they had issues on their end thanks to the heat. They had to turn off their a/c and some of the lights for the show because of the breaker. Yikes. It was a good concert though.
