Writerly Ways
Sep. 1st, 2024 10:47 pmSO for my writerly ways I would like YOUR help and ideas. Before I launch into that, listen to the dumb of my day. I want binoculars for tomorrow. I haven't used them since...I have no idea when. I know they're in my bedroom in the drawers or on the hope chest. Only...they're not. I search everywhere (and fill up another bag filled with clothes to donate) All I find is the empty carrying case for the binoculars but where are they? I have at least three pairs ffs.
So as I'm letting the cat out a voice in my head says look on the doorside table. There they are. WHY?!? Why are they there? How long have they been there? How have I never put them away? And why are they NOT the ones that fit the empty carrying case???
So back to the writely ways. If we're working on long fiction and/or a series having a series bible is a good idea. I've been mentioning for a while now the one thing I'm not too happy with in Vivziepop's hellaverse is that sometimes it feels like there is no series bible. Hazbin feels divorced from Helluva boss except where it isn't (like Charlie having the 7 Sins in her phone contacts or the scrapped plans to have the sins at the hotel for a meeting). But there is also a suggestion there isn't much of a crossover and that could be entirely possible as they're owned by two different studios.
So does Viv not have a bible? Is is the two studio thing that makes it feel that way? Is is the very short run times and limited episodes that make things feel disjointed? Is Q&As where she talks about not really doing her research (which annoys me to no end)
Regardless, it doesn't matter other than it got me thinking about this. So here's what I wanted from the authors out there, what do YOU do to keep track of your worlds. I'm curious. I am not as good at this as I should be.
