as they scrawl apologies to me on their final exam. And it's done. I'm done. Graduation is on Saturday and I'm done til August. But not really I have so much work to do this summer it won't be much of a break. It will probably be a lot of surgery.

And send me good thoughts for tomorrow. I see the eye doctor and I would love to have one doctor's appointment NOT have a major problem for me (especially my eyes, going blind from diabetes is a legit fear for me)

Hey I do have a rec for rec thursday.rewrite_a_fic the idea is to rewrite a story more than 1 1/2 years old. I love this. Hell I've been doing this on my own. I've been slowly rewriting my old Buffy fic for posting anew. I'm certainly a better writer than I was 20 years ago. Maybe there's one you'd like to tweak too. This is your community and your chance.

And a bit of good news. As I was dealing with today's work drama Cenage book publishing emailed me about the upcoming work conference. Want to come to lunch and hear us talk about shaping the future students and we'll pay you 100$ to do it. I never signed up for anything so fast. I nearly snapped a finger. I haven't been asked to one of these the last several conferences so I'm thrilled. One lunch I don't have to pay for and I can sit still if you give me 100$.


And my poster for the conference looks nice.

Niiice. I'd love a lunch that pays. I do have my district conference, that pays. But the last two years something has gotten screwed up and I've only been paid for one day instead of two. Hopefully it'll work well this year (plus I get my presenter pay.)

Yeah, found out after I got there that we will NOT be paid for attending this year. And I have no idea if I'm going to get my presenter pay because nothing has been said about it.

I'll have to consider strongly whether I go next year or not. The presenters have gone downhill the last couple of years.

I am considering applying to present at GLMA next year which is our school librarian conference.

I think in our case, it's the high powered speakers doing all the cutting edge research who get paid. the poster presenters and workshop folk don't

This one conference, we normally get paid 300 for attending both days, but apparently it was a grant and so we no longer get paid. Did not know this until I attended.

Since it's an in-district conference, presenters are supposed to get paid, but like I said I haven't heard anything.

I mean I paid about 200 to attend my library conference so I feel ya. And 40 of that was my membership fee so I didn't HAVE to pay 350 to attend the conference (and that doesn't include the hotel room for the weekend.)

sadly my membership fee was another 150 or so on top of this but I find it worth it.

That's why I'm not an ALA member. I wish I could do the school librarian membership without ALA, but I don't think I can.
