Writerly Ways
Jan. 29th, 2017 10:15 pmNot much of one again other than to say I'm almost entirely done revamping Blood Red Roulette which feels me with dread as I'll have to send it back out there.
We're talking about sex scenes over on Queer Sci Fi. I am SO relieved to see so many of us neither like to write nor read them. I feel less like a freak now. I mean I'm reading an excellently done one Fish and GHosts by Rhys Ford and as good as the scenes are I am still skipping them. I feel like I'm not alone.
However, one of the men said something that did strike a chord with me. He wanted the sex to be there because homosexuality had been hidden for so long. I can understand that, I truly can. It's something to consider when I'm writing something.
I noticed that the most of the readers who are also authors preferred either no sex or little sex because it's often so intrusive on the plot. The readers only wanted tons of sex. It's an interesting dichotomy.
We also talked about the hate on sweet romances (het and gay) by reviewers who apparently only read for sex. I find that deeply disappointing somehow. It should get me moving on revamping my non-romances. Maybe I would feel better there.
And in other news I swept the carpet, had to move the recliner and set it on my toe, breaking it and tearing off the toe nail. I rock.
