My Catholic Upbringing Rears Its Ugly Head

I can't help it. I feel guilty. For the first time ever, I have people fighting over me for the job. I just bought my very expensive plane ticket to WV for an interview next thursday. I log into my professional email (you know the one that doesn't have a silly fan handle) to tell WV when I'll be there and as if I wasn't feeling guilty enough over a 750$ plane ticket I see a ton of welcomes from the OTHER college PLUS my class schedule.

No lie if I had seen that first, I probably wouldn't have bought the ticket. Now I feel guilty either way, damn catholic upbringing. If I ditch the one college after the schedule was already made, I'll feel so bad. If I don't get the other job I'll feel so bad for costing so much for nothing.

Yes i know this happens all the time in the business world. I still feel horrible.

I can understand that. Good luck, and try not to feel TOO guilty about it. You're the one that has to live with your choices. And the schedule would be applicable for your runner up, too.

I understand the guilt but look on the bright side, you have people fighting over fabulous YOU.

Good luck at the WV interview and even more good luck in making your decision. I know it will be hard but I know you'll make the right one. I'll be thinking and praying for you.

I once interviewed for this community college job--several, in fact--and got more than one offer. Finally signed the papers with one of them. Then the semester starts and I get a call from the admin assistant at another one of the schools I interviewed with asking why I hadn't shown up for the first day of class. I'm like, WTF? I felt *wretchedly bad*, even though, as I reminded myself, I didn't *sign* anything with them!

I couldn't shake the feeling I'd done something really wrong, even though it was their error assuming I'd take the job.

And I'm not even Catholic.

That IS bad. Wow. And yeah it's not your fault and I said on the phone I'd take it BUT told them until they sent me a letter of intent to hire I was still interviewing. I haven't recieved that letter one month later so...

But I feel SOOOO guilty.

I tell myself that too and frankly there has to be a runner up for either position. I get the feeling WVV is spending money for nothing since they kept hitting on how i'm not a research ph.d

that's what I plan on doing. I know I'd like WV's campus better but then again some of the classes they want me to teach don't interest me. Well next week will be telling

The sad thing is the WV campus appeals more to me. The OH teaching curriculum is more appealing. Whine. But hey I have a job so I should NOT complain.
