My week off has been very busy

cornerofmadnessI've given up on cleaning. I'll be happy to just get things packed up and off to Pittsburgh. All day on Tuesday I was at work. We had the best and brightest of 6,7 and 8th grade in three successive waves at the school. I did a lab on the senses. It was similar to the one I did last year. I think if we're going to continue this I need to come up with three ideas and rotate them since it'll be the same students.
It went really well. They were engaged and enjoyed it. I wish my students had that much enthusiasm. On the other hand they're absolutely exhausting and at a challenging age. It's just as well I don't teach middle school. I'd probably be doing 25 to life.
Yesterday I went to the endocrinologist. All those blood vials equated to 20 pages of labs. Holy crap. But I'm good. My kidneys are fine (such a relief), my blood count is up, my cholesterol is down and while not good my sugar is holding it's own. She did agree with me that the keto diet is VERY dangerous for diabetes. Now to convince friends of it as they keep insisting I need to do this. Believe me, I've researched diabetic diets to death. I KNOW what I need to do (only weight doesn't come off, damn it). I also got the flu shot.
Today I did the echocardiogram. It was delayed well over an hour because of an emergency. The tech was a talker and we had a long conversation about how ill prepared my students are as she gets them in clinicals and says half the time they just sit there doing nothing. Gah. It was very cool getting to see my heart work and all the bits and pieces of it on the screen. I don't know much about reading cardiac echoes but since I was allowed to walk out the door I'm assuming there wasn't anything hideously wrong. Mildly wrong is yet to be see. We did have issues seeing it because it was hiding behind a rib and I had to keep holding my breath to make it peek out.
