So ELD and I went to the MOthman Festival today and were going to meet my friend Rain. We got there to the shuttle area and over an hour later still waiting because the shuttles were just stopping randomly and NOT at the line. Finally ELD and I got pissed and went back to the car, got a refund and directions to the handicapped lot which I can park at. By then Rain had already gotten sick from the heat and left but I did run into another friend my writers group there to clog with her group. I gave her a ride into the festival and finally found a place to park.
It was so miserably hot that ELD didn't want to sit in on any of the paranormal talks (the old theater isn't air conditioned). I have NO idea what happened to this venue. I know one of the organizers died earlier in the year. Maybe there was a fight. But most of the normal speakers and vendors were not there, not even Rosemary Ellen GUilley or Susan Shepard (who is local) maybe they wanted something new. But there was no artists either but some crafters. WAY too many Chinese crap vendors. More food than anything. I didn't spend a dime other than something to drink.
We hid out in the antique shop for the a/c. We made one round and bugged out. I felt really bad because ELD came all this way for this and it was such a bust.
We ended up going to the mall but I couldn't stop at Hillbilly hot dogs either because it was SO crowded. The mall was just some place to wander before going out to eat at Tortilla Junction and coming home.
Sigh. Sort of a waste of a day but at least we got to hang out which is nice. We also had Christmas in Sept (and saved a lot of postage....)
