Beatles Drabbles
Jun. 27th, 2005 12:50 pmThis was fun. Too tired from a 1000 mile move to do more than my standard characters sadly. All the drabbles were inspired by the titles of the songs except for Young Blood and all titles of the drabbles are the song titles that were their inspiration.
Cry for a Shadow – Dru/Angel 1900
“Cry for a shadow,” Dru moaned, the vision leaving her shaking. “It’s coming for you, Daddy, a horrible shadow, so much pain.”
Angelus glanced over at her, irritated. “What are you talking about, Dru?”
She flung her arms around him. “You’re going to leave us.” Dru pressed her wet cheek against his chest.
Angelus patted her head like a child. “Not going to happen.”
“You soul…” she murmured.
“Long gone.” Angelus laughed.
“No, not so gone.” Dru knew Angelus would never believe her. She was alone, crying for him. What good was seeing the future if she couldn’t stop it?
Bad Boy – Spike/Dru 1901
“Miss Edith, my Spike’s been a bad boy, making himself all dirty with Grandmummy.” Dru eyed Spike over her shoulder as she fussed with her doll’s hair.
Spike strained against the chains that held him naked to the bed. “Darla’s been lonely since she smartened up and turned out Angelus.”
Dru whispered in conference with Miss Edith then turned to Spike with a grin. “Miss Edith says I have to make you love me again. Tears of God to remind you, you’re mine.” Picking up a glass decanter, Dru dribbled holy water on Spike’s nude body, grinning at his cries.
Little Child – Connor/Holtz Quor-Toth
Holtz tried not to recoil from the small fingers sticky with blood as they wrapped over his hand. Steven was looking at the tiny creature he had killed, a look of amazement and fear in his blue eyes.
“Is dead?”
Holtz looked into his ersatz son’s pale face, saw worry there. “Yes, Steven, it’s dead. You did very well on your first hunt.”
How old was Steven? Three? Surely not over four. Yes, he had encouraged this hunt but he didn’t expect Steven to be able to do it. For the first time, Holtz began to fear this little child.
Nobody’s Child – Connor between S3/S4
It had become a ritual, sneaking away from Gunn and Fred to first visit the woods where Father’s ashes were scattered then on to the beach to where he had put Angel under the waves. His leg muscles burned from all the walking but he was hardy, forged in the fires of hell.
Staring at the dark water, Connor pondering being a fatherless child. He had no one here. He knew Gunn saw him as a burden and Fred…well, she tried but it was hard to be loved when you were nobody’s child. Was this the regret Angel promised he’d feel?
The Inner Light – Connor/Cordelia – S4
Her inner light, he remembered it washing over him, filling him body and soul. They all thought she was purging him of Quor-Toth. They thought he wept from relief. Even he didn’t understand it then. All he knew was one moment he hated Cordelia for what she was and the next he felt love for her, a strange desire he barely understood.
Glancing over at his daughter, Connor knew now Cordy’s light wasn’t to cure him. The magic bound him to Cordelia, Jasmine’s manipulation to bring herself into this world, insuring her own birth, sacrificing her parents. Inside, he wept.
Young Blood – Connor S3 & S4
I took one look and I was fractured : That was the story of his life. One look at his father and for the first time he had to wonder could something evil actually love. One look at Cordelia, her warm glow spilling over him and he was hers even if he didn’t understand his feelings. One look at how Faith could fight and he wanted her like he had never wanted anyone else. One look at Jasmine, and he wanted to worship her. One look at his child’s blood on his hand and his mind splintered. Death was welcome.
Misery – Angel S 4
Misery, could it be an inherited trait or was it something that had to be worked at? Angel thought about the misery he had caused his father and the pain that man stirred in him. He promised it would be different from the second he held his son in his arms only it wasn’t. The misery was still there and both of them were so capable of inflicting it, feeling it.
The salty scent of Connor’s tears and blood imprinted misery on Angel’s soul forever. He ended Connor’s misery. His child would know joy. It was Angel’s best gift.
Devil in Her Heart – Connor/Faith Post NFA
The demons had won. Connor hadn’t expected that. Only Angel was left and the Slayers had come too late to help. If only Giles had believed his father when he asked for help. Now, they had to fix things.
Connor wrapped his arms around the dark-haired beauty in his bed. He and Faith were in Vegas after a nest of nasties. He couldn’t ask for a better person at his side, a vicious fighter, a passionate lover. Angel worried about the dark in them both but Connor didn’t care. That’s what he loved best about Faith, the devil in her heart.
As always X-posted the Connor ones to
