A little overwhelmed
Dec. 12th, 2018 10:46 pmIt happens at this time of year every year. After coming off nano and finals, the house is a wreck. This year it seems particularly bad. I didn't clean today. I should have but nope. I wasn't well and was gone most of the morning. I did however finally dragged my winter clothes out. I don't even have my holiday cards out yet.
If you want one you can let me know here on DW or here on LJ. It's screened (or you can PM me). If you want my address (or email for an ecard since not everyone is a) comfortable with sharing addresses or b) has the money), let me know. I do have
seta_suzume,
dragonydreams
scratchingpost1
spiffikins
I cleaned up my remix story. I've edited two old ones to get up on AO3 as I go and that takes me to the real reason to post tonight. I don't write fanfic much any more because I barely have time to write the stuff I get paid for. HOWEVER, I love writing it for the holiday.
fandom_stocking is a bit slow to post at the moment so if you want a little ficlet from me, share your stocking with me OR tell me what your fandoms are now and link me to the stocking later OR if you don't have a stocking and still want to play tell me your fandoms and heck you can even tell me here characters, pairings and a prompt (though some pairings might end up non-romantic depending on how I'm feeling when I'm writing, so feel free to hit me up here in the comments.
So I've been playing on the Three Sentence Ficathon and I have two fills people wrote for me that I want to share FMA, Roy and Riza 'Fancy Meeting you here
AtS, Connor, 'this is hell' (this one is highly amusing)
What made you start writing fanfic?
Which of your own fanfics have you reread the most?
Describe the differences between your first fanfic and your most recent fanfic.
Do you think your style has changed over time? How so?
You've posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you'd written it?
Name three stories you found easy to write.
Name three stories you found difficult to write.
What's your ratio of hits to kudos?
What do your fic bookmarks say about you?
What's a theme that keeps coming up in your writing?
What kind of relationships are you most interested in writing?
For E-rated fic, what are some things your characters keep doing?
Name three favorite characters to write.
You're applying for the fanfic writer of the year award. What five fanfics do you put in your portfolio?
Question of your choice!
Which of your own fanfics have you reread the most? : Okay I'm SO not a rereader. I rarely reread anything. However, I do occasionally reread my old fiction (like right now I'm rereading all the old Buffy stuff so I can clean it up a little before new eyes get to see it. But there is an answer to this, especially in the last few handful of weeks. Since August I've reread Hyperion's Son about six times and was perusing it the other night and STILL see errors, so one more time all the way thru for me. OMG, why? That said I think it's still one of the best fanfics I've ever written (though it has the Louise Penny sort of multiple pov)

Fandoms: Fullmetal Alchemist (manga), Attack on Titan, Inuyasha, D. Grayman, Natsume Yuujinchou
'Ships (slash, het, and femslash):
FMA: Ed/Ling, Ed/Win, Ling/Al, Rebecca/Havoc, Miles/Riza
AoT: I have no pairing preferences and am happy with slash, het, or gen fic
Inuyasha: Inu/Kag, Kouga/Kag, Sango/Miroku
DGM: Allen/Lenalee, Allen/Kanda, Kanda/Lavi, Lavi/Lenalee
Natsume Yuujinchou: Tanama/Natsume
Characters
FMA: LING, but really, I’m very easy and love side-character pieces as well. I’d die for Maria Ross and Kain Fuery hitting up post-manga Central’s gay district as each other’s wingmen just as much as a dark and serious Ling and Ed on the lam before the Promised Day in the cold, damp woods.
AoT: I am a sucker for Reiner, but again, the cast is pretty amazing as a whole so I’m open to what you have in mind. Levi is also infinitely interesting with his history and intense affection for his subordinates. If it involves the Scouts, you’re golden. I happen to be a huge horror fan, so feel free to kill them all if you’ve got a bunny like that (no death needed, though that seems an almost odd request given the series itself!).
Inuyasha: Kagome is so brave, truly, but fandom doesn’t always treat her so in fanfic. Please treat Kagome as the strong, brave friend that she is in the series. Sesshoumaru and InuPapa have such mysterious, storied histories they are legends even in Inuyasha’s time - I’m always interested to hear tales from before the fall of InuTaisho. Whatever your choose, if it’s canon-flavored I will be all over it.
DGM: Kanda may be one of my favorite DGM characters, but the exorcists, the crow, the noah … there is a lot to play with and I’m a huge sucker for horror.
Natsume Yuujinchou: I’m particularly fond of the bond Tanama and Natsume share and exploring that angst, but I am also in love with the youkai and exploring the horrors of the spirit world. Anything Misuzu is amazing.
Fic Likes: I love things that are very close to canon. I love characters being brilliant and brave in all the ways they are in their respective mangas. Angst, action, horror, and introspection are all good in my book. PWP is okay, though I’m much more partial to things that involve plot - unless you are gifting art. You can let loose with art, I’ll take anything from canon to NSFW to highschool AU.
Fic Dislikes: fluff, incest, shouta/loli. I am strangely picky about icons and banners, so I will feel bad if you make me something in that vein. PLEASE NO HOLIDAY MENTIONS in any stocking replies (thanks!). If you are not a fandom gifter, I am in love with Thai culture after having spent time there and would love photos, music videos, or pretty much anything fun you can find.
Anything Extra: I’ve been out of fandom for years so any good author/artist recs are also appreciated as I haven’t read anything since 2012 (and have never read anything for AoT).

Date: 2018-12-13 05:15 am (UTC)And yeah, the challenge os for members so we are sorting new members into "teams" and have weekly check ins with body measurements and nutrition consults that I have to do for my team. New Year's weight loss stuff that we get to cash in on each year.

Date: 2018-12-13 05:32 am (UTC)It wasn't swollen. My right leg was so atrophied it's about 2 inches small around than the left. An MRI revealed (I still love his words) a constellation of problems that basically are a) two torn hamstrings b) a blown acetabular labrum (the hip cartilage) c) arthritis of the hip d) arthritis of the lumbar spine e) femoral-acetabular impingement syndrome causing nerve damage (I haven't felt that thigh since I was in medical school, that's part of the birth defect)
so yeah, I need a new hip BUT steroid hip injections usually deal with the pain for over a year so we're doing that because otherwise I'd probably have to have it replaced again even before I retire because the fake joints only last about a decade or so
