Took Kanda to work and then to the vet. He's not really forgiven me. There was a vet-cat, Miller, who had been tossed there in a Miller highlife box, who was literally the best cat ever. He was a 3 pound skinny orange tabby who greeted EVERYONE, me, Kanda, every other person, every cat and dog. He was on my head, in my shirt, in my purse everywhere. So douchebag who tossed him out in a beer box,you missed out on a great cat.

Kanda had his neck shaved and blood taken to test for diabetes and other things. 200$ for freaking vaccines. Yikes. Also he's lost about four teeth and needs three more out. That explains the rank breath (which is what I suspected) They were supposed to call me with the results but didn't. sigh.

And the rest is just snippets of various things. If you want to read them, I'd be happy (they're all draft one so expect suckage)

Caleb flopped down in the surgical break room and helped himself to the peanut butter and crackers on the table. The surgical team insisted on them and orange juice in the fridge. On busy days no one on the team had more time than it took to hit the bathroom and get to the next case. The sugars and proteins of peanut butter offered sustenance when there wasn't time for a proper break. Only Betty was allergic and luckily not so badly that having it on the table bothered her.

Caleb munched happily. Next life he was picking an easy career, not that he knew what that would be but surgical nursing wasn't it. Still, he mostly loved his job and even if it got insane around the holidays. With family coming in and being able to be a support system, people schedule their elective surgeries around Thanksgiving and Christmas. It made him irritable because it really crunched the staff's time, but on the other hand no one went into health care expecting copious days off.

"You ready for the holidays?" Dr. Arneson sauntered in and sagged into a chair. Caleb soaked in the exhaustion radiating off the orthopedic surgeon. They had completed three surgeries already and had one more scheduled with podiatry assisting, a limb salvage that had been shoehorned in at the last minute.

Caleb sighed. "Yes, and not, the house is decorated but I still need to work on Quinn's big gift. It's out first Christmas so I want to do something special."

Arneson slotted his eyes. "Haven't you two been together for five years?"

"Yes, but it's our first as a married couple. Quinn is already all hearts and flowers over it."

Arneson spread his hands in way of apology. "Okay, right. It should be easy but nope. Valerie and I were college sweet hearts, lived together all through medical school but yes, the first Christmas after our wedding was somehow magical."

He snorted. "So yes, you're going to want to pull out all the stops."

"And it would help if I had any ideas in my brain." Caleb sank lower in the chair and stuffed another peanut butter cracker into his mouth.

"Of course, it doesn't. You're a guy. I'm not sure many of use excel at this."

"Oh, Quinn does. I'm one hundred and ten percent sure he's already had my gift bought, wrapped and hidden away. Meanwhile, I'm flailing around like those waving arm things they put in front of used car dealerships."

"Now there's an image."

"All I know is I want it to be something special but I'm not sure yet what it might be. I want to surprise Quinn. I thought about getting a greenhouse for us but there was no way to hide that until the holiday.”

“That would not be good for a surprise but it could be a fun thing to have. You both like growing your own veggies and what not.”

“Quinn is into heirlooms so it would be nice to have a place to baby them.”

For the prompt of seduction I rewrote this. [personal profile] evil_little_dog this is the story I lost that should have been your [community profile] fandom_stocking well it's not really a story but rather a scene.

Buffy dragged herself to the elevator to get to the penthouse and bed. She wasn't cut out for dealing with teens any more. She had taken the Italian Slayer, Zia, with her and her watcher, Deryn, who might have a sainthood in her future for putting up with the teenaged snits and non-stop chatter and how Zia knew everything about everything and oh god, she owed Giles like a dinner or twenty for putting up with her and all of her friends way back when.

Zia hadn't been thrilled when Buffy herded her home, not wanting a lone slayer loose on in a city she didn't know and she was only sixteen. She still needed training up and Buffy didn't have time for it tonight. She wanted to do more Slaying but Buffy just wanted to go home for the night having been at the school, putting up with Watchers, dealing with the foul mood she'd seen Connor sink into. Okay, she really hadn't dealt with him but she knew Angel was which would put Angel in a dark mood. She needed to save up the last of her reserves for dealing with that.

Buffy slipped inside her suite, surprised to be greeted by the scent of chocolate and the lights down low. If she didn't know better, she'd swear Angel had a night of seduction planned but that didn't really fit in with a day of strangers parading around the Hyperion and his son having a bad mental health day.

Angel sat behind their bar watching some cartoon of all things on the TV. smiling when he saw her, Angel picked up the cocktail shaker. He gave it a vigorous rattling before pouring her whatever it was into a martini glass. He gestured to the seat.

"I thought you might want a drink after dealing with underaged Slayers and overstimulated watchers."

Buffy collapsed on the bar stool, pulling the drink o her. "Like you can't believe." She inhaled deeply fruits and chocolate infusing her nostrils. "Ooo, this smells heavenly."

"chocolate raspberry martini." He pointed to the bottles of Kahlua and Chambord. "I googled it. Did I do it right?"

"Perfect." She leaned across the bar and kissed him. Buffy nodded to the bowl filled with fluffy chocolate dip. "And that's?"

"For this." Angel reached under the bar and pulled out a platter of strawberries and raspberries.

"And this is why I love you."

Angel grinned. "I thought that might help."

"Mmmm, like you don't know." Buffy swirled a strawberry in the chocolate. She savored the sweetness. "I’m not sure how Giles did it. I think that every time I have to go to the university but Zia was trained elsewhere and has some different expectations. She didn't want to come home. I'd say send her out there with Connor if we weren't hiding his abilities."

"He's also not particularly patient." Angel snorted as Buffy dunked a raspberry. "Though I suppose he is good with kids."

"Shockingly so. I hope he wasn't much trouble after i left."

Angel shook his head. "actually, after he went for dinner with Dawn, he's been pretty calm. I think he still might want to go out and kill things but he should be fine without that or he can go himself. I think we will have to keep him - and me and Spike - away from Andrew, just saying."

Buffy sighed and took a good swallow of the creamy chocolatey cocktail. "Talk to Giles. I have to deal with whatever Salyers come with their watchers, if they do. He deals with the Watchers. He probably won't have to be told to keep those two apart."

"Doubtful. He picked up on Connor's distress fast." Something is missing here….

So whatever Dawn did with him at dinner calmed him down."

"I do not want to think about that. It was probably perverted."

"I am sure I'm not asking." Angel shuddered. "Not that Connor would tell me. He's rather a gentleman in that respect. Dawn on the other hand."

Buffy bounced a strawberry off his forehead. "We leave it at your son is a perv and my poor sister is a naive waif led astray." She grinned and Angel chuckled.

"You are truly delusional but I love you anyhow. Would you like another cocktail?"

"Not yet but if we keep talking whatever nonsense those two got up to tonight to calm him down, I'll need the whole shaker."

He shook it. "there's plenty more."

She knew he wouldn't drink it. If he drank, which was rarely because there wasn't a lot it did for his dull taste buds and how much it took, and how little it lasted to get a vampire drunk. Buffy swirled another berry. "But you're sure he's okay?"

Angel's expression warmed her. He appreciated her concern and she was concerned, even though she found Connor to be a bit of a brat. Buffy knew it wasn't all his fault, that there were mental issues at play. He tapped his phone. "He's texted me a couple times. He's fine."

Buffy nodded, drained the chocolatini then pushed the glass to Angel for a refill. She pointed to the TV. "What were you watching?"

Angel poured her drink. "Fullmetal Alchemist."

"Dare I ask why you're watching cartoons?"

"Anime, please, for the love of all that's holy, do not call it a cartoon in front of Connor." Angel rolled his eyes.

"Or Xander. Yes, I know but it still."

"Lorelei gave me some homework. She pointed out that while Connor and I are making progress, I haven't really tried to understand the things Connor likes."
"Ah, that explains the anime. Is he to try to make a bridge to the things you like?"

Angel shrugged. "One step at a time. We both like Raiders of the Lost Ark so all is not lost. I don't see him golfing any time soon but he might like hockey. Once the season starts, I'll see if I can get him interested."

"There's violence. It might appeal," Buffy agreed then gestured to the TV again. "Might be easier to take than whatever geeky thing he'll drag you into. I'm trying to think of his interests and it's all geeky or heroin."

"The steampunk might not be too bad but it might drag up bad memories of the crap Darla, Dru and Spike and I got up to." He sighed. "Though that Steampunk Halloween thing we did wasn't too bad."

"After he dragged you to see Dracula on the big screen."

"It was actually fun. It was a good bonding moment even if he was being a jackass about the movie. It's not easy for him, Buffy but he's trying."

She suspected Connor could try harder but she wasn't going to tell that to Angel. "I know. So, you can at least tell him you tried."

"Actually, I'm enjoying this."

She widened her eyes then gulped down some of the chocolatini. "Really?"

"Really. It has a good storyline, interesting characters and really nice art. That's why he wanted me to see it. He knows I love to draw so he figured this would be the anime for me." Angel sighed again. "At least that's what I'm hoping."

"What else could it be?"

"Edward, that's the young protagonist, doesn't get along with his father, calls him a bastard half the time."

Buffy rubbed her forehead. "Yeah, that's probably what he really wanted you to see."

"Well that shows what he knows. I can picture myself as Ed and Hohenheim as my father." Angel grinned then glanced at his phone as it buzzed against the bar.

"He sensed us talking about him," she guessed.

He nodded. "Connor's on his way up. Sorry."

Buffy waved him off. "I figured he'd already be here with how Andrew was pushing his buttons."

Connor knocked before Angel could answer that. "Come in," he called.

Connor walked in, paused scanning the room. The smell of chocolate might clue him in his father wouldn't really want to go out on patrol with him or at least she hoped so, even if it was selfish. "I'm interrupting. You could have just said so, Angel."

"It's fine," Buffy said, holding up the bowl of berries. she knew how much he liked sweets. "Help yourself."

"You sure? I can go out on my own or just have an early night."

"Have a berry," she insisted.

Connor popped a fat strawberry into the chocolate and practically inhaled it happily. "Thanks. But seriously, it looks like you two want a night in...are you watching Fullmetal?"

"Angel is. I'm here questioning it." She smiled.

"She hasn't seen any of it yet," Angel said.

"Then I should leave you to it," Connor said.

"I'd prefer you don't go out alone, Connor. I can come with you."

Connor shook his head. "You need to trust me, Angel. I'm okay now, back to full strength."

"And if one of the Watchers or new to us Slayers happen to be out there and see you? We're trying to keep your abilities quiet," Buffy reminded him.

Connor wrinkled his nose. "Okay, true. guess I'm going to have an easy month then with all of them here. I can go turn in and let you two do chocolatey things I want to know nothing about."

Buffy chuckled. "Well now knowing you're picturing it, it's ruined."

"Oh good, that makes me feel better. So, Dad, hating it yet." He nodded toward the TV.

"No, I'm enjoying it."

Connor's face lit up. "Really? great. There's plenty of it. You'll have to wait for me on some of it. But since you're going to stay in, I'll go down and either pound on the work out back or do a few laps in the pool to burn off the energy or see if Dawn wants to do something. You two enjoy the chocolate."

"Bringing Dawn into the picture just ruins it more."

His grin grew. "Perfect. In that case, I'll take the chocolate. I'm sure Dawn and I can come up with something with that." he feinted for the bowl.

Buffy swung off the bar stool and pushed him back gently. "No, not even, buster. Out you go." She gave him another playful shove toward the door.

Connor laughed and waved. "Good night."

"Good night son. Better flee while you can," Angel replied.

Connor laughed harder and went out the door.

Angel turned to Buffy. "I certainly hope he didn't actually ruin all the chocolate fun."

Buffy rimmed her lips with a berry before taking a bite. "Not even close." She picked up the two bowls. "Bring the chocolatinis." Her sister wasn't the only one who knew how to have fun with chocolate.

And for a prompt of yummy here's a different scene (not edited, and probably terrifying in how bad it is) from Dominion of Dust "Mr. Gunn, your one o'clock is early. Shall I make them wait?" Lauryn, his administrative assistant asked.

He looked down at the remains of his yummy sushi who knew Connor was right about the place on the corner? Hell, he couldn't have guessed raw fish could be so good and why had it taken so long to make that leap. hadn’t Fred wanted him to try it once? " Give me a minute to polish off one last bite."

"Of course, sir."

Five minutes and the last of the fatty tuna later, Lauryn escorted a family into his office. A white-haired man and an older woman who was most likely his wife were in the lead. Two twenty something women were with them. One of them looked oddly familiar but Gunn wasn't sure why. He stood and stuck out his hand.

"I'm Charles Gunn. Come in, have a seat and tell me how I can help you."

"I'm Pat Hennessy and this is my wife, Brigid and our daughter. We've already spoken to your assistant, Ms. Griff. My boss, Mr. Lokuta feels that there is some sort of threat against him and my family as well." His face pinched tight as he gestured to the ladies. "I wasn't sure why he thought Wolfram and Hart would be of assistance. Mr. Lokuta mentioned something about Angel Investigations."

Gunn nodded. He had read the file Lauryn had prepared with the help of the junior lawyer, Liz Griff. Lokuta had reported a supernatural threat to his company and his second in command, Hennessy who was entirely human and obviously very much in the dark, so much so Gunn didn't know why Lokuta had sent him other than to reassure him he would be safe. Lokuta was an Exsio demon, mainly harmless, bug eaters who could appear human. "Yes, Honestly Ms. Griff should have set you up directly with Angel. I apologize for that."

"She seemed to think you'd be interested. She's rounding up someone she said was one of your best for this sort of thing."

His wife scowled. "If he's a bodyguard, he must be a rough fellow."

"Or magical," Gunn thought, depending on what Lokuta considered a threat to this family and his business. He wondered who Griff was rounding up. "But professional, ma'am, no worries. A lot of our body guards are ex-police or special forces." That was true, at least of the ones Wolfram and Hart hired directly. There was even an ex-Watcher or two on the pay roll much to Giles's ire. Gunn texted Liz to see where she was. She answered almost immediately. "Ah, she's in the gym with him. I'll show you the way. Anything you can tell me about the threats?" Gunn stood beckoning them to follow.

"I'm not even sure what's going on," Hennessy replied, stepping in the anteroom. He gestured to two people sitting there. "Sorry, we're on our way to a friend's birthday party tonight. This is Kathy's boyfriend, (I don't have a name for the douchebag yet), and Brittany is a friend of the family forever."

"Nice to meet you," Gunn replied leading them to the elevator so they could go down two floors to the employee gym.

"And to answer your question, I honestly don't know why Mr. Lokuta had me come here. I've received no direct threats personally, and all I know is he said there was one. I believe he's both concerned for us and wants me to take point on heading off whatever this is as vice president of the company."

Lokuta's company harvested donations of skin, tendon and bone among other things and raked in millions. Gunn hoped that this was actually being used surgically and not ending up on some demon buffet bar.

"I have a copy of the threatening email. Before we get too far into this, we might as well meet the agent so we don't have to go over everything twice."

"Makes sense," Hennessey agreed.

Gunn found Liz at the door of the gym which seemed to be empty except for a solitary person working out to music set loud enough to be driving but not loud enough to be obnoxious. Angel strolled down the hall from the opposite direction and Gunn remembered today was the day Buffy usually brought the older Slayers over to spar because the school had sanctuary spells that would prevent them for working out with predators like Angel and Connor.

Angel raised a hand in greeting but dropped it, his eyes widening. If vampire's could go pale, Gunn swore Angel would have. He glanced around for whatever danger that had Angel nervous but saw nothing.
