I had things to talk about but it's been a bad day. My brain is fried and I'm stupid (my parents told me so today so there's that). I am trying to drag everything together for those author's panels but at this point it's more likely I'm going to be winging it (OMG) because if I think about it, I'll realize I'm the only NON-Tor author on the panel and panic).

I made a tiny bit of headway on one of the Christmas stories and then got the copy edits of Modified and Sacred back because of course I did at the worst possible time. I'll try to knock those out tomorrow. It shouldn't be too bad.

So don't forget, sign ups are now open on wipbigbang. I've lured in some of you but I know a lot more of you might want to give it a try. Don't know if mine will get picked up for art but that could be fun. Still noodling on my big bad who's being elusive. So if you have something longish you want to finish consider it and pimp it about.

Oh I DID remember one thing I wanted to ask. So my own WIP I'm doing is alternating chapters of several characters. Some first person, some might be in third. Does that irritate you when books do that? Do you not care so long as it at the top of the chapter whose pov it is?

I personally won't read 1st POV because it just irritates me. I don't mind alternating character POV in the slightest, but going from 1st to 3rd would turn me off.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know. I'm always surprised by how many people don't like first person. Most of my favorite books are in first.

I think alternating POVs chapter by chapter is absolutely A-okay! I'm not sure how I'd feel about switching between first and third person. If there's only one first person POV and the rest are 3rd (with the same narrator?), I think that would still make sense.

THanks. I've seen it in print where it was alternative pov AND format (I want to say Anno Dracula was the first place I saw it) but it seems that would annoy people so everyone can be first person.

Oh! "pov AND format" like having the characters write letters/diaries or something, in between third-person POV? That could be cool.

Hmm that could be interesting. I'm not sure it will make it into this wip but it's something to keep in mind. I've not tried it before

That was my thought: alternating by chapter POV switches don't bother me as a reader, but the switch from 1st to 3rd might unless it was something like a format switch, where one of the POVs was someone's journal or something like that.

I love getting into a characters psyche and seeing their POV. However, first person irritates me. I tried writing a story for my nano in first to challenge myself. I think that's part of the reason why I lost steam. Sometimes if I see a book is in first person, I skip over it. There have been very few books that I have liked that were written in first person. If I was reading a story that started in third person and it suddenly made the leap into first, I think it would be kind of jarring in my opinion. That's happened with me while rping. My partner would jump to first person and my immediate reaction was "ugh!" But I honestly think that's my hang up and has less to do with the author.

I don't think you're alone with this opinion. I'm always surprised, like I said to others, how much people don't like first person. I don't prefer it over 3rd or vice versa (it's second person I don't like). I'm stuck with first on this one because like 14K of it has been online for 16 years
