Snort. Mark Twain was such a sarcastic sucker. I think I would either have loved him and been his friend or gone to jail for punching him one. Many of my favorite quotes are from him.

I have a snow day. I would love to say I'm here writing and I guess I am. I'm writing exams. Not my most exciting stuff but I get to write while nursing students suffer taking these things so there's that. Grins.

Also I'll be posting a rec your fic post a little later if you're so inclined as to share

ETA - Oh look I forgot that other post. Tomorrow! I did get a lot of writing done. 495 on the last chapter of Come Undone and that's posted + 300 words worth of multi fandom drabbles + 423 words on a "little" story about Gil's freaking car that won't end.

I have a snow day too, and I should be grading essays, but at the moment, I've only managed to do a little sweeping, pay the bills, and add 694 to the SWAT story, finishing the rough draft. YAY!

I hope you're done with exams soon and find the right energy to work on your words. :-)

Technically I'm doing a little on the exam and a little on Come Undone's final edit, a little Prodigal Son drabbling and running around in the snow

I have yet to get around to grading. I just REALLY REALLY don't want to. *sighs*

BUT, I did add another 160+ words to the story to resolve a little plot point that was niggling at me all afternoon, so there's that, anyway. ;-)

No grading here either but I DID get the test done in spite of something coming thru Firefox that put the system to sleep and it couldn't wake up.

Did about an hour of transcribing + editing last night, to the tune of approx 1K words. Today I wrote two longhand pages -- taking a fresh shot at what I wrote yesterday and didn't much like -- and then did some more transcribing.

I feel better about what I wrote today than I did about yesterday's, but I'm at a branching point, and not at all sure about what branch I want to take. (Or even if there are worthy branches I'm overlooking.)

I did do writing for day six and seven, some focused work on my weekly meta project and writing up some of my reactions to the decisions made by national politicians.

fixed a bit to cohere with the actual weather conditions on the dates I am setting this (since those dates are now in the past and therefore I have historical data to look at, and also I only had to change two already existent paragraphs to make it work, which has the bonus effect of I can point to the historical weather data to say the thematically appropriate weather shift is there for reasons other than it's thematically appropriate)

Day 7 - 1318 words, 1108 on the WiP and the rest on editing for posting.

Today has already started being One Of Those Days, the kind where things keep going wrong, but hopefully my brain and body will get in gear enough for me to write something later.

We have gales forecast for all of tomorrow, starting late this evening, with winds gusting up to 61 mph. I'm gonna hunker down and hope nothing important blows away.

I've noticed tat, which is why I have some of my WiPs, I've just never found a satisfactory ending for them =/

I have the bad luck to live in an area that seems to attract the wind, so I know I'll probably get hammered by this storm. Just hoping it won't be as bad as predicted but the wind's already getting blustery. I like the wind, but there's such a thing as getting too much. Hoping it won't be too noisy to sleep.

Points to my response to carenejeans I'm great at abandoning WIPS or fumbling the endings. Trust me, I get it.

I'm pretty expert in it having spent all but 3 years of my life in cold places.

Some fics have definite endings, others ramble forever and never get anywhere. I swear they have minds of their own and won't be finished until they're good and ready.

I've lived in the same place all my live and while we get a lot of wind, we seldom see heavy snow. There's been none this winter (so far) and only a few flurries last winter that didn't settle for long. I consider myself lucky since I loathe snow.

No argument there. Come Undone, the one I finally finished yesterday took nearly 70K to finish. What the hell?

Ah, I'm a traveler and a lover of snow. It's the hot place I lived that I loathed. This was our first snow this winter though.

That is a seriously long fic. My longest fic by far is over 80k but it took more than a year to write and I'm never writing anything that long again. I usually write short one-shots so I went way out of my comfort zone for that one. I'm happier writing short, but I admire anyone who can write long fics.

I don't like heat either, so I guess I live in the right place.

And I'm the opposite. I'm much better with long fic than short. Half the reason I really kept a hand in with fanfic was to learn better how to deal with short fic.

I think my longest fanfic is Buffyverse, well both of them Hyperion's Son & Like Stone both over 100K

With long fics, I can't remember what I've already written so end up re-reading bits to make sure I don't contradict myself in later chapters. Then I spend so much time on that I don't get any new writing done. Short pieces are just less complicated.

Just popping in quickly, as I'm off to the family ado in half an hour and want to get a bit of writing in before: meagre 435 words for me yesterday. I was unwell all day with totally unfamiliar symptoms and about to go to the ER when I realised I must have strong glutamate reactions. The restaurant we've eaten at used to be ok in that regard, but obviously no longer. *sigh*

Sorry, I've been terrible about checking in, but I did do some editing (and a little new writing) on days 4, 5, 6, and 7. I'm starting to become really annoyed with myself, because I've been turning up stories that are almost finished. Which is good, since I'm now finishing them. But bad, because they've been languishing, sometimes for *mumble* years. Sheesh.
