Ugh for meetings and grading. That has been my life this week too. Winter break next week, though, and I am trying to keep my eyes on the prize!

I wrote a 656-word something at the writing club earlier and then added 308 words to that Black Sails fic I'm working on. Gods, but I love Flint/Vane. *sighs*

Yeah, we used to have a spring break and no winter break, and then local school districts decided we needed a week for President's Day and a week at Easter instead, so because we're a Catholic school, we do a week now and then we're off for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday and then the week after Easter.

I'm sorry you don't have a sooner break to look forward to. I know you've been pedal to the metal this semester. *hugs*

Oh that's cool. Yeah honestly I have NO idea why we have off Good Friday but not Easter Monday so you'd have to travel back on the holiday itself. (we're not a religious school but still make some sense people)

Day 12 - 1374 words, one ficlet for a monthly callenge and 629 words on a different WiP. I thought I might get it finished today, but my boys are proving a bit reluctant to leave the nice, secluded little beach they've found. Can't say I blame them...

Twenty minutes, or two pages longhand and a short note to remind myself of a possible bit of background information. Suddenly decided "look, there are three worlds connected in this story and you barely touch on the third (aka the "real world) and it's time to at least try and flesh that out." I'm a bit afraid I'm going to end up with too many speaking roles. Not POV characters, just characters with names and at least a bit of background and a role. (At some point I may look at this and decide "this is going to be 300,000 words whether you mean to or not, just roll with it", but I'm still fighting that).

This is why other people do the full plotting in advance thing. You don't go wandering around by the seat of your pants working on side bits because you can't figure out a main plot point.

Also, ugh, grading. Unless you need to get in a headspace where everyone your character is dealing with is useless and frustrating and lacking in basic comprehension, in which case, I bet it's quite helpful.

Only about 140 new words for me - I got my story back from the beta, put in the edits and posted it. Since I'm very finicky with the formatting I usually do the text markup at AO3 to get a neat result (also because I can't be bothered to write my text in html in the first place). Normally that's not a bother as I don't use much markup in the first place, but this time over a third of the story is in italics, of course mostly not in connected blocks, so the process took forever. *headdesk*

I suppose I should bother to learn markdown language and use a converter or something. Most people just copy&paste from their word documents or so, I suppose; I don't know if this is the reason or something else, but there are so many stories out there with these vast amounts of white between lines/paragraphs caused by some coding stuff. I really dislike reading these, I find all the white horribly disctracting, and I refuse to have it in my own stories. Although I wouldn't even have them; I'm writing in Scrivener and when I copy&paste from there my text markup gets lost.
I could write my text in html code, but I need it to be readable in WYSIWYG style to get a feeling for the text, and for that tags bother me. Converting my text markup to html tags is more bother than doing the text markup manually in the AO3 window, though, but it's still somewhat tedious. ;op

Honestly all I do is double space paragraphs on my Word and I do simple html (italics, bold) and that's it and yeah then just copy and paste. I've never played with the markdown language.

Mine doesn't have a lot of white space (probably not enough) but I know what you mean

In the editing process with 6 words net gain on Day 12. Will probably lose words today because I realized I need to construct a scene differently.
