cornerofmadnessI live rural. You all know that. My students are as if not MORE rural than me and a lot of them have no money at all. Many have no access to at-home internet. Hell a lot of faculty have no access to that. Which yes, I know is hard for most people to grasp.
So the edict came down today. We are NOT making the faculty move face-to-face classes move online (and yet the hybrid and online classes are still meeting) because too many students wouldn't be able to access them. (especially if libraries start shutting and they have 1 hour limits) Now it make NO sense that the online/hybrids have to continue and the rest don't but I'm not the one making these choices.
I have NO idea if we'll be extending the semester into May, if I'll be cherry picking chapters to finish in April as I AM off until April 6th or if I'll be tossing my hands up and saying screw it and you get your mid-term grade (which would be very unfair to some of them).
I did go thru today and pull down all the online homeworks, told the students what I knew and yelled at them to DO their homework before I put their grades in on Wed.
And I'm done for three weeks. I'll have to go back to OH on Monday now because I DO have to put grades in on Wed. Will I stay in OH? Come home? I think I'll be staying because a) I can use this time to finish my novella b) finish my Welsh research c) finish that other paper I started so maybe I can get something published d) watch the 1001 shows on my DVR e) clean that fucking apartment.
My natural hoarding tendencies will work in my favor. I already have enough food for months, soap for a year and books for a life time. I might become one with the couch if I'm not careful.

comment_fic and FINALLY saw that damned Avengers Endgame. I didn't think it sucked but I didn't think it was that great either but finally saw it.
