Crisis on Infinite Earths
May. 13th, 2020 11:43 pmI FINALLY got to the Crisis series (so far behind in my viewing) and let me say a few things.
1. I haven't watched Arrowin a few years but decided to watch the whole season since it was its last. In many ways that was a mistake. I had no idea he had kids which not a problem. But my god his daughter is a whiney little bitch. I dont' know if she's on any of the other DC comic tv shows if so I'm not interested. Sadly it was also boring.
2. I had NO idea the John Constantine was apparently part of DC Legends of Tomorrow according to something I saw on Twitter. I was sad that show got canceled in one year. I LOVE John. He's one of my favorites from the DC/Vertigo line.
3. I adored his small part in the Crisis and Lucifer's cameo (I just found out season 4 is in theory on DVD. I need to get that if it is)
4.If John IS in Legends of Tomorrow maybe I need to watch that.
5. Black Lightning's small role in Crisis made me interested in him too
6. Holy Crap I do not like Supergirl/woman/whatever we want to call Cara. Maybe it's just Crisis but she's blah. I mean I feel the acting isn't that great and there's not much to her at all. Maybe it's better on her show but this didn't make me want to watch it.
7. All I can see is three and half men when I look at Lex Luthor. Sigh.
8. I'm glad I started watching The Flash again.
9. I'm getting a better appreciation of Batwoman. It really is ALice I'm not enjoying on the actual show
10. I sadly missed one Batwoman and Arrow on the way to the crisis and missed pt one of the crisis (which was probably either on Supergirl or Legends as I dont' follow those)
I'm quite tired. Tomorrow I plan to just watch TV finally.
ETA - Holy crap I just posted my SEVENTIETH Prodigal Son story. what is even happening? Find it here.

Date: 2020-05-14 01:24 pm (UTC)We have watched them all from the start except Arrow. We've got 2 more seasons to catch up on with it. Oh and Batwoman but I think I'll binge that one sometime soon.
Supergirl is almost unwatchable to me right now... I cannot stand John Cryer as Lex Luthor. I think of Two and a Half men every time I see him, too.
Black Lightning isn't awful but we sort of drifted out of it this season.

Date: 2020-05-14 04:15 pm (UTC)Arrow I started with and lasted about 4 years? It got too soap opera for me. Flash I saw half of S1 (I didn't have a DVR)and then binged it on an international flight and really enjoyed it.
that's it two and a half men...I actually called it three. go me. He's a horrible Lex Luthor. I mean what casting director thought this was a good idea? I was not moved to see more of Supergirl
Batwoman is borderline with me. It's the Alice thing that bugs me (I don't like a recurring villain and she is not going away)
Black Lightning being okay but not great seems to be the consensus here

Date: 2020-05-14 02:09 pm (UTC)3. I haven't watched Lucifer, but I loved when he appeared!
5. I watched the first season of Black Lightning and it was really good. I'm not sure why I didn't continue with it.
6. I don't watch Supergirl, but I think the problem with her storyline was the same problem they all had - not enough time to really address anything. They were trying to fit in too many characters/shows, imo. My take on the first three episodes (I didn't bother with the last two) was that they were a hot mess. (I only watched those because I wanted to know how it would impact Batwoman, the only DC show I'm currently watching.)

Date: 2020-05-14 04:07 pm (UTC)3. I would recommend Lucifer on Netflix. Season 1 & 2 were good. 3 had some issues. I've heard 4 (which was taken up by netflix) is good
5. Black Lightning was on up against a show I liked before I had a DVR. I need to look for it on Netflix
6. Yeah well Crisis was one of the reasons I stopped reading DC comics (much like Endgame's version stopped me reading Marvel) when you had to buy a dozen comics, several you don't even want to get the whole story....but you're right, Crisis is a hot mess. I've now picked up Flash again and I'm still struggling my way thru Batwoman

Date: 2020-05-14 02:28 pm (UTC)I watched the first season of Supergirl and I agree with you about the actor. She's boring. The woman who plays her sister is a lot more interesting to watch.
Black Lightening is an ok show, but very earnest. I don't know how to explain it, it just seems to take itself very seriously. (I think that was maybe my issue with Constantine as well, now that I think about it.)

Date: 2020-05-14 04:02 pm (UTC)So it's not just me. I'm always hesitant to say I don't like female centric thing because these days you're instantly branded as a misogynist which as a woman bothers me. That's like lowering the bar. Cara is dull and I wanted to like her but..
Hmmm well haven't seen Black Lightning but now I'm curious about it but I know what you mean .
