If I was too sadden by the world to write one last week. You can imagine what it's like now. I am wondering how many more creatives I'll never be able to look at again. I had ditched J.K. Rowling a year ago (but realized I forgot to do that on Jana's twitter so raced to do that even before yesterday's nonsense). So as another creator shows their ugly. Granted Rowling has been doing that for a while now. She just doubled down on the during Pride. SHe's not even trying to hide it now. Sigh.

In a way it's good. Now I know who not to give my money too. I guess the shame of it is, they're smart enough to hide their ugly until they get to the top. I still love Harry Potter but I just can't give her another ounce of time or money. So I guess my writerly ways is don't be a hateful douchebag.

I think what bothers me most about her, is that unlike other authors who have said some pretty dumb, hurtful stuff, Rowling has no desire to be educated or to learn why her words are hurtful. And now she's trying to say that being called a TERF is just hateful misogyny. I can't stand people like her. That reminds me, I should probably unfollow her on twitter. I barely use it so I never even thought of it.

Yeah I saw her trying to backtrack and say how much she respects trans people but but but. It's like enough, just own it. You dont' respect them, go play with your billions.

She has no intent on learning why her words are hateful,you're right.

If she respected the LGBTQA+ community, then she'd not say the garbage that she says. And the thing is the comment about "people who menstruate" is trying to be inclusive of more than just the trans community.

I'm not a fan of cancel culture but why can't we just cancel her now? I am sick of her and her hateful, ignorant tweets to be honest. If she was willing to step back and say "Okay why was this wrong?" And actually mean it, i"d be willing to give her the benefit of the doubt but this has been ongoing for how long now?

Sorry to rant about this.

ANd it went further, it wasn't just a comment about menstration, she doesn't know what women are any more? Eye roll. Trust me I'm all for canceling her at this point

*hugs you tight* My girlfriend's son is trans, and considering they both bonded particularly over their mutual love to Harry Potter, this was quite a blow to them - or rather a second one. She just send me this, perhaps it helps you a bit, too, in case you haven't seen it yet?
Before I read it I already said to her that I refuse to let my love for my favourite characters and what I love about the fandom get tarnished by JKR's whatevers; what I love about them has long since grown far beyond what she originally created.

I feel for your girlfriend and her son. It's so problematic when someone creates something you love and then they turn out to be awful. I, too, will still continue to love HP but probably not buy anything new that benefits her.

I'll definitely not buy anything she'll profit from any more. I want the Fantastic Beast DVDs eventually, but will only get used ones, and the two or three Cormoran Strike-novels I still don't have will have to be second-hand paperbacks, too, although I read 95% on the kindle due to my visual problems. other than that, what I've been tempted with has always rather been fanart or fan-made...

Same here (well I didnt' actually like the second fantastic beast movie so not interested in getting that)

I did like the illustrated books but I got the first one in a used book store and if i see one there again...

always good to support the fans
