A medical sort of day
Jun. 25th, 2020 09:57 pmMy blood sugar is out of control again. Sigh. This right after I spoke to my podiatrist friends about the fact the neuropathy is getting worse (I can't feel the right side of my right foot all the way to my ankle now) Unfortunately NOTHING has changed in twenty year since I practiced. Lyrica/Neurontin which increase my suicidal thoughts/depression. Cymbalta isn't supposed to in the over 25 crew but has such severe side affects and liver damage possibilities that I don't want to take it. So basically vitamin B12 and prayer. There might be a topical I could try. Sigh
Today Mom had her second cataract removed and did very well.
My young cousin is having another bad Chron's flare (he'll probably lose his colon like my brother) and worse his significant other's mother died today. She had a brain tumor they operated on between Thanksgiving and Christmas. She developed a bleed almost immediately. Stroked and went into a vegetative state where she's been, having more strokes. Yesterday she took a downturn. She was gone this morning.
Found out one of my good friend's twenty-something son developed thyroid cancer. He had surgery today. Sigh.
And then I got online and learned something new blew up because why the fuck not? Chuck Wendig talks a little bit about it here. Basically there were several authors (SFF) who have been harassing women. Oh big surprise. I did have one on my list, Paul Krueger, who I didn't know personally but did signal boost his work (I apologized for it but then again how the hell would I have known. I've never met the man). I don't know the other two who got called out today. Wonders if I'll know any of them come tomorrow.
In much better news,
enemytosleep sent me this open call request for SFF short stories. It's very short notice at this point but here you go here. (I had another one from another friend but I can't find the damn thing.)
I took all of today to work on the week by week requirements of my class. I got 2/3rds done PLUS picked all my online labs. I'm hoping I can get the shell of most of this stuff done by the end of the weekend.
And speaking of good things, I DID sign up for
fandomgiftbox (DW only) and here is my gift requests if anyone would like to give me a gift.

Date: 2020-06-26 05:08 am (UTC)I watched a DS9 episode today that featured an alien device that skewed the laws of probability and I was all, "Oh, I know that one."

Date: 2020-06-26 11:55 am (UTC)That is so strange and sucktastic about your blood sugar! And your feet. I hope the topical helps. What does B12 do?

Date: 2020-06-26 03:02 pm (UTC)thanks. B vitamins are needed to make a healthy nervous system. That's why they're in prenatal vitamins (spina bifida for example is caused in part by lack of B vitamins) and it's known to slow neuropathy. I was taking it and then forgot.
Honestly I probably SHOULD just take prenatal vitamins as I'm low AF on iron too
