With every step of my unpacking. I gave up on the CD/DVD stand which is going back to Wally World, half glued, half screwed and half broken. Holes aren't drilled. Dowel rods missing and/or snapped just by looking at them and glue I can pull apart just by turning the stuff over hours later...

Dish Network got here (kisses Radio Shack for being so helpful). IT's all set up 120 channels of shit I'll never watch. They had to drill a hole in the wall (god hope the landlord doesn't mind. Really its improving the value of his property. now it has a permanent dish thingie) They dig a hole, plant the dish cement it in and THEN check to see if it gets a signal (I'm thinking dudes, shouldn't that have been your first step.) They can't get better than 80% down here in the valley but where they first planted it it got 0% sigh. They had to dig up the cement and do it again. Then they hook up the VCR and everything goes blurry. I'm like damn, the cable must have snapped in the move. They cut me new cable and the world is right again.

Got the mattress pad on the futon...and it didn't save it. It's still miserably uncomfortable but I found the laundromat...15 miles away and dingie as hell. But it's behind the library... couch vs laundry...oh the torment.

Curves for Women is affordable as health clubs go...only no pool. Sob. I can only do water aerobics because of my shot knees and arthritis. I can work out on the machines but I want my pool. There's a Y in town...

Yay for satallite and yeah you would think they'd check a signal first doofuses. Laundry behind hte library might not be so bad if you did laundry during library hours and didn't worry about leaving your clothes there while they washed.

Check on the Y they usually do have pools at least I think they do.

yeah that's why I want to check on the Y. My school has one but my fat ass in a suit in front of my students? I think not.

That was my plan for washing the clothes but seriously I can get the washer/dryer for 700$ which is probably only 100$ more than paying for a year at a laundromat

understandable about the school pool. I don't like people I have to see every day seeing me in a swim suit either.

Ooo tempting on the washer/dryer. It'd be nice to just stay home and be on the computer *coughrpgingcough* and be doing your clothes :D :D

My thought exactly on both counts...though I'll pretend I mean working while the clothes wash

Hopefully, as you explore a bit more, things will improve a bit. As least you got cable.

There's actually a pretty kick butt down town in Jackson for a small town, lots of empty store fronts (thank you Wal Mart) but what is there is interesting and teh arcitecture...boy I'm glad I didn't see it first or I'd be living there in an ancient cramped apt just for teh ambience

Well, I wasn't talking about movies. They put movies on DVDs??

I was talking about TV shows. Buffy, Angel....

oh those, can't afford those. I have S 1-2 of Buffy and S1 of Angel...and I'm kinda bored with looking at them after a year of nothing but NBC in WI and watching the dvds I do have incessantly

I'd have thought testing for a signal before planting and cementing the dish would've been a good idea too...

Yeah frankly it was the first thing to MY mind (one of them was very excited I was a doctor. He wants to go to nursing then on to medical school)

I hope he gets the idea of 'making sure something works before committing to it' down, before med school.

Dah! Building things from walmart, scary. So, advice for holes in the wall. You can buy this spackle stuff (I think it has a different name though. It's made specifically for this) at home depot or ace hardware or whatever, and you just put a little dab on the wall. It goes on purple, dries white, fills any hole. Trust me, I've used this in everyone of my apartments and never had an issue

yeah I am the queen of Spackle. I move all the time but this hole...it's through the wall but like I said it was to run the cable (I mean, it's all sealed and all now) so the next person in here just needs to call Dish and get a reciever)
