For one, I finished recording all my lectures for the nursing A&P. I'm proud of myself. Now to finish putting stuff online and maybe pick some stuff for lab and learn all about this new lockdown browser via Connect that keeps them from cheating online (woot).
For two, my uncle's foot surgery was canceled yesterday due to an emergency. Today they're like your leg looks wrong we need to do a venous doppler. He's pissed because they did one 2 weeks ago. NO ONE looked at it. Maybe 2 weeks ago we could have gotten IV antibiotics to the wound in time to not have to amputate (maybe not but maybe) He had 100% blockage in a major vessel. NO ONE looked at the damn report. So today he had a balloon angioplasty of that leg and the toe removed.
For three I'm writing like I'm on fire. Go me. I even got 2200 words on the Buffy big bang. Thank god because it's due soon.
For Four I spent half the afternoon chattering on Twitter about that Pson thing I posted on
For Five, I have heart burn so damn bad I'm pretty sure my esophagus is dead.
For six the OH governor has Covid. Which in a way is strange because he is the one Republican who has been a) ignoring the crap out of Trump b) taking the virus seriously. (That said I still don't like him)
For Seven - I got a vote b y mail PLEASE from OH which has already given me m y ballot
Is anyone else having issues with LiveJournal? I can't get the mood drop down to work nor the icon drop down to change it and half the time it won't show me comments even my own so I can edit them (thank god that's not the case in
comment_fic where it actually matters)
I: Has online caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why? thinks on posts this week and laughs. No, it's not stopped me from liking the fandom. It HAS however stopped me from being active in the fandom. For the most part I post my fic and read the ones I like and otherwise stay out of it these days. I was pretty active in Buffy and FMA (and obviously Prodigal Son) but even there I rarely did the general groups. I tended to stick to my pairings back in the day, less toxic that way. Buffy was the worst I was in and still is. Go ahead look around at the BA challenge IWRY and see Spuffy fans being absolute assholes about it today 20 years later and vice versa you'll see BA fans being absolute assholes about seasonal Spuffy and I could really care less about either ship to be honest (I wrote B/A for friends but Buffy herself never really made me want to ship her). So I guess in the day I WAS in general Buffyverse groups because LJ was just taking off and a lot of it was on forums (I was on one forum that allowed zero bashing. I can't remember its name now but god I loved that one for that very reason).
So no I haven't stopped liking a fandom but I have withdrawn from fans in the past. Today I'm pretty good. I drop my fanfic on AO3 and run. Prodigal SOn has gotten me out of my shell for the first time in years. We'll see how it goes there. So far we're staying in our own lanes when it comes to pairings but we'll see.

Date: 2020-08-07 12:54 pm (UTC)I've got to say everyone was either sweet or quiet, as far as I noticed, when I dipped a toe into the Other Community and when we got them officially affiliated. -- But yeah, some fans really enjoy bashing. :C

Date: 2020-08-07 02:28 pm (UTC)I Find that participating in fandom on the edges is the best way to go. While the Buffy fandom can be pretty bad at times, it pales in comparison to the Harry Potter fandom. And sadly, Supernatural fandom makes the assholes in the other two fandoms look like amateurs.
That said by the time I joined the Buffy fandom around 2003-2005, there seemed to be a push to keep the negativity on the fringes of fandom. I think I had one really bad experience with one Spike fan who didn't like me saying that while I liked Spike, I felt that he wasn't the greatest character on the show.

Date: 2020-08-07 03:11 pm (UTC)Man when I think about how bad Buffy was at once, I can't even imagine HP or SPN, good lord.
I tend to poke about the edges, find people who seem to think like I do or post stories that interest me and I talk to them. I have had some bad experiences, mostly because I didn't hate Connor or why I wouldn't forgive Andrew because he's funny (because all would-be rapist and murderers should be forgiven because they're funny?)

Date: 2020-08-07 08:50 pm (UTC)I got hate because I didn't necessarily love Spike as a character on the show because I didn't fall into the camp of the actor is hot therefore the character is the best ever. I find that Spike is a very hard character to pin down. When the writers write him well, he's great but a lot of time he's garbage. I mean don't get me started with the whole Harmony/Spike pairing on the show.
