More Lullabies
Aug. 16th, 2005 11:06 amApparently 'I'm very busy' means nothing to my muse who wants to see me cry before breakfast. Here's two more lullabies (warning high on the angst meter)
Angel – Bittersweet Remembrance
It was her birthday. He always remembered it in his heart. She had been a surprise to his parents, a child that finally survived past birth. He was like a second father more so than a brother. She brought such joy to him from the moment she was born, even if he grumbled about her crying at night.
He never missed an opportunity to sing Kathy lullabies, humming them sometimes, always off key but she loved them. Every day since he got the soul, he mourned her just a little. Angel sang her favorite lullaby for her special day.
Angel/Connor – Peace at last
In pain from wounds too numerous to count, shocked that he was still alive, Angel left the battlefield. Luckily he remembered how to get to the Reillys.
Angel froze as he entered the home, the smells of blood and death overwhelming. He should have known Black Thorn knew about Connor. He could see his son had fought valiantly but the sheer numbers…the Reillys were gone. Connor’s light was fading.
“Dad?”
“I’m here.” Angel cradled him, knowing there was nothing he could do. He sang the lullabies his mother taught him until his son shut his eyes for the final time.
