How is it Friday

God, this semester is flying by. I'm in the maybe it's time to panic mode. Nano starts in 2 days. I'm not ready for anything. It'll be Christmas before I know it. I am so ill prepared for it all.

I didn't get time to call my dentist but I am going to have to because of that bill. I want to know about it and to get that damn crown planned before the end of the year.

I always find it curious what does and doesn't get reviews on AO3 (or out in the real publishing world for that matter). My stupid Whumptober thing which I literally dash off a chapter in a half hour has comments out the butt and up for like 50 kudos. The Big Bang I broke myself writing has no comments beyond my beta and almost no kudos (which granted might be because it's SO big and daunting and all the other BBs dropped too) It reminds me of how my two novellas and stupid holiday short stories do so well and I spent SO little time on them but the novels I wrote my heart and soul out for no one even notices.

I know I should be glad someone likes anything I've done but it's hard to focus on that when the things you love best are ignored. Ah well.

I'm still trying to work my Buffy auction story with a MAGA-like monster and I so don't have the heart for this.

I've had the same happen. A little story I dashed off in 2002 is still the buggest crowdpleaser. I'm just happy readers like any of my stories.

Same. I mean, I'm thrilled anyone likes anything I do but I wish I could see how/why some things go viral and others are dead on arrival

I know what you mean; I feel the same way. Why is it the 800 word fic you write in no time gets so much attention and the fic you spent a ton of man hours on languishes? It must have to do with how daunting it is to read longer fic, especially if you're looking for something short before bed or something like that. Also, the short fic are often one burst of humor and smut or whatever, which is often received well? IDK

It is amazing isn't it? Granted you have a point about long fic being daunting!

It's like, yes I love that people enjoy anything I write. I just wish once in a while the stories I love best were someone else's faves too
