Great morning, terrible afternoon.
Nov. 7th, 2020 10:49 pmI finished grading one lab's worth of tests. 3% of the students passed (2 with 100%) and the rest literally scored under 50%, I had one person score 8%. I had them tell me femur for nasal bones. Literally the fucking nose bones and they're like FEMUR. 4 of them told me the tibia was in the head. I can't even with this. I feel like I'm a failure but FFS, to mistake legs bones for skull bones? I mean this is junior high bullshit
I wanted to go investigate the Buckeye furnace, the ruins of an old iron works. It's only 8 miles from here but I've never been. However, my phone was drained and by the time I left the news from PA came out. Yay for that. Oh I'm sure the Cheeto isn't nearly done bitching and challenging but wow.
ANyhow I followed my GPS right off the paved roads once again. I get to the parking lot and I found that the Office/COmpany store is right next to two shacks. I mean shakes, we're talking corrugated tin over rotting wood and someone was WATCHING me from there. His dog came to see me but I couldn't escape the feeling of being watched.
Nor could I see a trailhead so I'm like this is a bust and the map isn't helpful (and the store is closed, it's a museum but it's only open in the summer) and I'm creeped the fuck out so I decide to go into Wellston from there back to Lake Alma. However 500 yards up the hill I find the damn furnace so I stop and go explore.
Can you believe there were two other couples there, literally in the m iddle of nowhere at a set of ruins. One was a young couple (there before me) and as I was leaving two older women on bikes. Anyhow, I do know that there were deaths at this furnace (I think he fell into the vat of molten iron, god).
I got some neat pictures and did a little ghost work. I climbed to the engine room and the staircase was shaking I'm like I know I'm fat but come on. IN spite the stairs being in great shape, they were rotted away from the wall. Yikes.
I didn't hear anything in the engine room other than the car with the couple leaving and at the furnace, I heard nothing but kept seeing something moving about inside the furnace's chimney.
When I came home I saw nothing on the camera but 4 seconds into evp work on the engine room I heard a loud slam on the recording i didn't at the time and at the chimney a strange mechanical sound that I couldn't identify but didn't hear there either.
The dirt road to the place
This was the covered bridge too the place once but moved to this spot to preserve it
