Just one good day

All I wanted is one good day. I felt feverish all day falling in and out of sleep. After a bit of GI upset, I suddenly feel a bit better again

My knee subluxed again in therapy undoing the whole 'hey it looks less swollen' bit

My stomach feels like I ate fire.

And then the Buspar isn't working, the anxiety med, and I was wondering if it was causing my heartburn and it turned out it said 'can't have grapefruit juice' same thing as Plavix and other blood thinners. Yep it's a fucking blood thinner as well as anti anxiety. That could be dangerous having me on Four thinners. I refused to take it today. But WHY didn't the pharmacist catch that? Sigh.

I looked into grapefruit/drug interactions when I was prescribed simvastatin; it's not just blood thinners. Grapefruit juice inhibits enzymes that metabolize a huge number of different drugs.

that is interesting thanks. In this case Buspar is a blood thinner . Unlike you I'm no fan of grapefruit so I'm not missing much there

Good grief, I though people were supposed to check what other meds someone was on before prescribing something else, just to be sure it won't cause problems. Four blood thinners is WAY too many.

Yeah that is literally the point of a pharmacist. Anyone can count out pills and put them in a bottle. Their role is to catch shit like this. Nurses and docs don't necessarily know this stuff (it's just too much to know) so we rely on the pharmacist

You know, if an actual medical doctor can't be safe in a healthcare setting, what hope do the rest of us have? You're such a good advocate for your safety and you have the vocabulary to speak to healthcare folks, and even you are struggling mightily to get the bare minimum of competence, never mind communication between various parties. I really hope you're able to be well enough to be mobile and on your own soon, though I understand that there are barriers to that milestone. I'm keeping you in my prayers. *hugs*

that is the scariest part. What would someone do without my insanely high level of education in medicine AND me being a former doctor in a nursing home setting.
