I admit it. I was a tad apprehensive about this. I took both braces, the walker, the cane, my anxiety. Also it was supposed to storm so what did I say to Mom? It's going to wait until I'm outside.

I get there and the orders from my doc were minimal. I.e. build up the muscle and balance. PT is a youngish guy. This clinic is deserted (I think it just changed hands) he's like eh doc said nothing about staying at 90 (my brother agrees that I should move more than that) so we started with estim and passive range of motion.

I failed at the straight leg raises but that's from the arthritis behind the knee prior to this injury. Then he puts me on a stationary bike and not the recumbant one which I like better. Okay then. I could not make my leg go all the way around and he said not a surprise (I only have 87 degrees of flexion) but do what you can to tolerance and then back peddle the other way just to get the leg moving.

I did that for several minutes and then boom, something loosened up in the knee and around it went. Slowest bike ride ever but I DID it! After that it was on to the balance board between the parallel bars (so I could hold on and not go anywhere) did that without effort. Had me stand one foot behind the other alternating them. That hurt a bit more.

Mom comes back from shopping right about then and is taunting me from the cheap seats (she has had two knee replacements so she knows how this goes). Then he puts me on the low table and puts what is basically a Jobst pump on my which is like a pneumatic massage squeezing out swelling. He's lucky I didn't steal that bad boy.

While I'm lying there the sky goes dark. Mom scoots back to the car to bring it up to the building and to get the pizza next door. Ding, the timer goes off. No lie 10 seconds later the sky opens up. Mom and I were both drenched. I laughed all the way home.

It's swollen now but not painful shockingly. Or at least not more so than normal. So it went okay. I finally feel like I will walk again but I DID walk around the house very slowly afterward as the brace was soaked and I couldn't wear it.

Also I got a letter from some company telling me they had a data breach and my stuff was exposed...from MEDICAID. I don't freaking HAVE medicaid but the hospital sure thought I did. I'm like wtf. Now I have to call the state of OH. Bangs head on ground.

WTF @ data breach
But I'm glad to hear the outpatient PT went well, and you're doing so well, relatively speaking! Crossed fingers for a continued positive development.
