Happy Fourth of July

cornerofmadnessWe went to Lucky Uncle's lake house. It was a lovely day really. The temperature was too god awful and most everyone behaved themselves for a change. I didn't go out on the water because a) the uneven ground is too hard to walk on b) I'd probably fall on the rocking dock c) I figured the jostling in the boat as it bounces over wakes would be too painful.
Just the jostling in the car on the hour and a half drive was a bit much. So I took my computer and wrote while they were gone. Mom stayed with me as she has trouble with the dock too and there were plenty enough people. We sat around drinking home made moonshine.
I finished my second short story and...for one of the first times ever I was 500 words UNDER the minimum word count. I'll have to figure out what else to do with it. I know the beginning needs punched up. I rather like the resolution though. Hmmmm
I've started the third short story for the open calls. I'm not sure how that'll go. Again it has to be under 3000 words.
