Write Every Day - Day One
Sep. 1st, 2021 08:00 amYay, I forgot to warn the usual crew I was doing this but hey if you want, just join us.
I will say I will probably schedule the posts for earlier in the day and fix the tallies in the evening if that's okay with everyone. I'm still recovering from my injuries so sitting down to do this is tricky especially having resumed working in front of the classroom.
Any how here we go

What is the Write Every Day challenge?
Write Every Day is just what its name says: We challenge each other to write every, single day. Our goal is to encourage one another and provide the accountability and/or motivation that some of us find very useful in keeping the words flowing.
Who can participate?
Everyone is welcome! We’re an open-minded, nonjudgmental group of people who enjoy writing.
What do I have to do?
We’ll post each day with a little bit about our writing and a running tally of participants. All you need to do is drop by the comments to let us know how you’re doing. Please know that you are never obligated to check in. Also, if you'd like to comment on someone else's comment but aren't checking in for yourself, that's perfectly fine too. We're really easygoing 'round here, and conversation is absolutely encouraged.
Is there a word limit or quota?
Nope. Write as little as an “alibi” sentence (just what it sounds like—a sentence you write to say you’ve written, an alibi for the day, as it were) or as much as you’d like. All word counts are welcome!
Is there any restriction on the kind of writing I can do?
Absolutely not! Fanfiction, original fiction, screenplays, blog posts, meta, academic writing, morning pages, editing, letter-writing, nonsense poems: If you can write it, it counts!
Do I have to participate all the time?
No way! You can come and go at your pleasure.
New to WED? Got any questions? just ask
So, what are you goals? Do you have some? Just winging it? I have an original short story I must finish (and might not), a long Prodigal Son story to finish, a Fandomtrumpshate story to do and I got involved in writing episodes for a virtual series so I have all the balls in the air.

Date: 2021-09-01 04:43 am (UTC)I just posted my goals for September to my journal: I'm aiming for half a dozen treats for a gifting fest, a draft of a zine fic, and to finish the two longer WIPs I've been working on for the last two months. I made definite progress on the WIPs in August, so I think it's possible (so long as I don't wear out a) my beta with fest treats, or b) my arms, which are a bit achy today).
And it's September here already, so if it's okay, I'll check in for the 1st:
Day 1: I wrote my weekly update post and scribbled edits all over a printout of a fest treat. Am hoping to type up the edits today, too, but I don't want to make my arms any worse, so I'll see how I go. Pretty sure the treat needs another section to feel finished, too, darn it. ;-)

- Write most of what I need for
- Some number of things for
- Probably another section of
Day 1: Editing! I'll do some meta stuff later, and hopefully some first-draft-product stuff for something or other too.

Day 1: I did a re-read/edit of my fandomgiftbox fic, as well as a re-read/edit of the fic I posted earlier today (after I typed it in), so added a few words to those. I also have hopes to start writing another fic for the fall bingo challenge this evening. *fingers crossed*

Date: 2021-09-01 11:08 pm (UTC)My plans for this month include finishing the outline, editing "Snake Riders," and doing another pass through the novel I finished in May before sending it out to a pro editor. And, yes, I have a feeling I will also start writing the duology. Because I'm cracked, obviously. ;-)

Date: 2021-09-02 05:53 am (UTC)Day 1 - wrote a basic (bullet point) outline for a pitch for a new project.
This month is going to be very busy for me ... basically the projects that I am working on this month are:
1. Feature thriller screenplay which I have written a draft of but need to finish rewriting my first draft by next week
2. The one-page pitch (for another feature thriller) I worked on tonight which needs to be done by EOD tomorrow (and if things go well may become a larger project over the course of the month)
3. Doing another pass on the second half of the pilot I finished writing in May (which needs to be done by the 20th so I can submit it to a contest)
4. Writing an entirely new pilot
5. I'm starting a writing class halfway through the month that runs for ten weeks (every Monday and Tuesday night) so I guess also whatever I'll end up needing to write for that
... plus this week I am finishing up training my replacement at my current job, and then on Tuesday I start a new job.
I'm a little stressed looking at this list, but also excited.

Date: 2021-09-04 09:46 am (UTC)For Sept, I am planning on working my way through my two Mass Effect WIPs (I'm covered with shiny new fandom zeal!), and finishing the last chapter on my Call Me By Your Name Gilded Age fic. I'm also doing Remix revival, which is due month end. It's going to be busy, but I'm looking forward!
In other fannish news, I'm excited to finally get to commission in my new fandom, and also need to remind myself to watch for Yuletide noms!
