2021 will not let up

I took the kitty to the vet today. He did beautifully going in the book, settled down one we were underway and then the vet knocked the pins out. He is strongly FIV+ worse, he's ill. He was sneezing in the car but I didn't think much of it. He is feverish.

Now I know that FIV+ kitties can live a decent life but usually if they're ill that's all she wrote. The vet did recommend to either try antibiotics or put him to sleep. Another 150$ and I have to bury him. Um, do I look capable of hiking into the woods to bury a cat? Over 400 to cremate him. This isn't even really my cat.

I thought long and hard and we're doing liquid antibiotics based on price. She probably thinks I'm awful but for god's sake how are people expected to keep pets any more with prices like this. If I can get him past this he'll stay with me but I don't like my chances.

And worse, if he does live I have a cat I can't kennel which creates new problems for me.


My phone is still out

The only decent thing about today was the weather took Autumn seriously it was only in the 50-60s which was nice.

Oh shit, I'm so sorry about this result for Malcom. That's most unwelcome news. I'm keeping all fingers crossed for a good and doable outcome for you both, and hope he'll have some time to enjoy, no matter how long. You're a hero to look after him, particularly now. *hugs you both*
