My story is in a bit of a shamble already. The inclusion of the new character didn't go as I imagined and it needs more action. I need to figure out how to do that. [personal profile] ysilme gave me a very cool vampire from German myth (Pittsburgh had a huge German immigrant population that shaped the city so that works for me).

However the Nachzehrer is casket bound though this wiki says they can become pigs. While it's a super creepy monster, it's not too flashy. That's okay. My main villain (whoever they are) can summon more than one.

I like the idea of them getting into the heroes heads and pulling out some of their worst fears like Dan's could be the Manananggal and Howell could fear the Morgen which is what his mother is. Grace's grandmother was killed by something so there's that.

I think that might spice it up some and today Flippy sent me People Share What Disturbing Things They Discovered After Moving Into A New Home and there are some here that could make for an excellent rabbit hole for them to go down thinking they're onto where the villain might have been.

I'm too early to be bogged down by the middle since I'm not IN the middle. I also wanted more than one point of view but do I do all four of them? I think I'll try and see how I muck that up.

Snippet - Alessia slipped her weapon back into the pocket universe. If someone had seen her wielding fire, well who the hell would believe it? Javier and Vivian could spin it somehow. She curled her fingers around one of Dan’s wrist. His pulse danced weak and fast under their tips. “Stay with me, Dan. Help is coming, I swear.”

Forever, that’s how long it took the ambulance and police to get there. She and Grace couldn’t go with them. They were taken to the station where they sat, their friends’ blood drying on their clothes as they waited for the detectives to ask them questions about the big wild dog they were going to blame the injuries on. They certainly couldn’t tell them about hellhounds and a demon.

Alessia pieced together what Vivian and Javier and all her teachers had taught them, trying to arrange it in her head so she could handle this. They were told to be cooperative but not give up much. If they were worried, ask for a lawyer. Worry consumed her but not about the detectives. She had to know what happened to her friends.

Alessia covered her eyes, pressing the heels of her hands against them as if she could squeeze out the images of Laura staring up into the streetlight, bubbles forming in the blood at her neck as her breath whistled out of her torn trachea: of Dan trying to hold his own intestines in as they squirmed past his blood-slicked fingers. They could be dead. What would she do if they died? Would she and Grace be blamed? What was a demon of that level even doing in Broadhaven? Something like that normally had to be summoned. She needed to call Javier and Vivian but the police hadn’t let her call before they hauled her and Grace in to talk to the detectives, separating them so they couldn’t share stories.
