I might be insane
Nov. 30th, 2021 10:07 pmBut I did finish my nano (well I'm at 50K but nowhere near done, especially since I went rebel and divided it between three projects but you've been only seeing the main one)
ALso there's this
So yes EIGHTEEN years of winning nano. Then the sadness hits me realizing how FEW of these I ever finished. So if you want to keep cheering me on to finish my Slaying 80s style story that would be great. If you want to be an alpha reader even better.
I gave the big lab test today. Haven't graded it yet. Am afraid.
I'm glad my cardiologist appointment is this friday. Ever since the nose bleed I've felt wrong...light headed. Then again I lost a lot of blood...
and oh, there's a Prodigal Son 12 days of Christmas. If you're interested in writing/drawing for it check it out here.
I'll bbl with my final score and snippet. I hope you've been enjoying them.
Snippet - Have a long snippet for the last one (Dan and Al made it back to his dorm for context)
Dan gathered his shower stuff and some fresh jeans while Al sat on his bed and opened her book bag so she could study awhile too because she knew Adam well enough to know Adam wasn’t going to waste time in idle chit chat. As he closed the door behind him, he thought he heard Al say he had forgotten something but he didn’t go back. He barely had time to shower and get ready before they had to get to class. At least the communal shower would be mostly empty at this hour. He powered through his shower, toweled off and realized what Al must have been saying. He had jeans but no shirt.
Pressing the damp towel to his gut trying to hide the scars on his belly, Dan trucked back to his room. Al smirked at him, her eyes raking over his bare, hairless chest. It always vaguely bothered him that he didn’t have a little hair. Adam had a pelt. All Dan had was one hell of a head of hair though. It swung down to the middle of his back, sticking to him right now since it was damp.
“Told you he forgot his shirt.”
Adam rolled his eyes. “he’d forget his head if it wasn’t firmly attached.”
“Unfair.” He opened the closet door using it as a shield, uneasy about anyone seeing the scars he bore. He hung up the towel on the rack and found a shirt to go with his ripped jeans. He really wanted to get back to wearing his beloved jean jacket – thankfully he hadn’t been wearing it that the night of the attack – but it was way too warm yet. He pulled on a Hawaiian styled one with a mint green background and triangles of neon yellow and pink and lavender. “How’s this?”
“Retina searing,” Adam said.
“I’m sure that’s what he was going for.”
Dan snorted, flopping down on the bed so he could pull on his red Chuck Taylors, a gift from Al and Grace while he was still in hospital. His other canvas tennis shoes had been ruined, drenched in his own blood. He pointed to a small box on the edge of his desk. “Hand me that please, Al.”
She turned it over and he selected a single dangling ankh earring.
“Now you’re beautiful.” Al said.
“You wish you were this rad.”
50751 / 50000 words. 102% done!

Date: 2021-12-01 04:59 pm (UTC)I've only written 50,000 words in November four times (and that was way back in Nov. 2010-2013) and even that was 50,000 words of various random projects! (and then in 2014 and '15 I didn't even bother, topping out at ~27,000 and ~15,000 words respectively)
