Snowing for the Snowflake challenge
Jan. 24th, 2022 02:46 pmIt's spitting snow and I thought while I wait to leave for my doctor's appointment let me tackle this challenge.
Challenge #12
In your own space, tell us who you would recast in a film, tv series or webseries, or maybe someone voicing a cartoon or videogame. Or who would you cast to play a character in a book, comic or maybe even your own fiction!
Okay I'm very unlikely to recast someone unless I felt it was a super bad fit (or the actor turned out to be a jackass) and I'm so over recasting/rebooting. However the idea of casting a show that's not been done is interesting. I'm super bad at this but let me have a shot.
I'm a huge fan of C.S. Harris's early 1800s mystery series, the Sebastian St. Cyr stories. First thought was ooo Tom Ellis because he's hot...but he's also obviously not under 30 either. I'm not even sure the ones I picked are. If you've not checked out this mystery series, you should.

I think Kit Harrington would make a decent Sebastian. He has the look to me. I think he could play a broody nobleman.

Honestly I don't really known Tuppence Middleton having never seen Sens8 When I searched British actresses under 30 she popped up and I liked her face. That said I don't know how tall she is. Hero (a blucstocking noble whose father is pretty much the power behind the throne) is really tall. She's also highly intelligent and a great foil for Sebastian. I love her.
But I was also VERY interested in casting my own novel. I do this often but I'm still pretty bad at it (go ahead ask anyone who ever did cover art for me). 2021's nano novel was basically monster hunters ala Buffy or Supernatural set when I was in college in the 80s (kinda in my college if it were prettier and closer to Pittsburgh PA and way less religious) I have a band of four that comprise our heroes.
Alessia Salucci - She's the default leader of the group, an Italian-America raised in the Pittsburgh area (okay she's me if I had been cooler)
I thought Stephanie Kramer might be good
Al after dealing with monsters and Dan and Howell
Danilo Abadiano - Dan is the second in command, the soft sweet center of the group. Basically for the guys I thought about who I thought was hot in college and Lou Diamond Phillips leapt to mind (and using his ethnicity helps to add a nice diversity to the group. Dan is Filipino-Irish

True fact about me. I still think Lou's hot (and he is sweet)
Grace Miller - Is the only one of the group who doesn't come from a generational background of hunting monsters. Her granny got killed by one. She's rather just be an artist but she can't ignore her own power.

I went with Rae Dawn Chong since she was hot in the 80s and has the right ethnic mix I wanted for Grace
Howell Lloyd - He's from Wales and the newest member of the group coming into the novel a few chapters in. He's a problem child (though not as much as I want him to be. I need to rethink his chapters) and has a true monster inside him.

Why Jon Bon Jovi? Need we ask? He was hot in the 80s, he's hot now.
You can find character sheets and more information on the characters here. and a here. I'm always happy to talk about the novel and share.
