Well my mood tanked out of nowhere

cornerofmadnessNo seriously. I was fine. I finally got home and was just chilling with the cat sitting on my chest while I played Uno online waiting for my mouth to get its feeling back so I could eat dinner without biting off my tongue (I had dental work today). And BOOM, like Rocket toggled a switch in me just be sitting there. Growl. I mentioned it on Twitter and someone said the same thing happened to her and her roommate today. Okay universe what is up with that. I'm better now. Strange.
I mean I didn't even mind when they tried to upsell me on stuff at the Honda dealership (I didn't do it). I didn't get mad when the one strip mall in Chillicothe did zero ice removal and made walking fun. (I did splurge on lunch at Red Lobster realizing I'm now a month into this semester and I'm off Mondays and have yet to be home because of doctor's appts)
Hell I wasn't even mad when there was pain in the procedure and I had to have a needle straight into the roof of my mouth. I don't know what's worse, the sound of the drill or the smell of your tooth burning as it's filed away. I love it when they ask, does the tooth feel okay? How the fuck do I know? Everything is numb. as it turns out no, there's a rough edge. Eh, it should only be a week.
And then the low tire came on one the way home and I'm like what did they do rotating my tires? I hope to hell I don't have a flat when I get out there tomorrow morning. Didn't get mad when my coffee lid came off and soaked my favorite purple shirt. Sitting around at home ARGH.
There's this making me sad. Lou Diamond Phillips came out last week on record to say exactly what he thought about the cancellation of Prodigal Son. i.e. what I've been saying there are too many cookie cutter crime shows and Pson was different and that the cancellation was a big mistake (for those that don't know the cast and writers had NO idea this was happening. Fox already had season three episodes written and it was canceled the day before teh finale aired. Fox is an asshole. Anyhow the sad part is how much all the actors are still in mourning
And while I'm out here with strong controversial opinions, let me talk about a couple of kids animations that friends have been trying to get me to watch The Owl House and Miraculous Lady Bug now that they're on a station I can get
Don't hate me but I don't get this one. I don't know why it's popular. Personally I hate this animation style but I'm not even taking that into consideration. I've seen about a dozen or more episodes and these are the most one-note characters I've seen in a long time. It would really help if I liked Marinette and I don't. I don't hate her but I find her uninteresting. We hear that she likes fashion but I haven't seen it yet. Every episode is her pining over Adrian.
And that's my problem. There is no character development for the most part. THere's a decent attempt at diversity ALya is darker skinned and Marinette is biracial white/asian and there seems to be a lesbian pair (which I saw briefly). Adrian is a bit more interesting in that he has a lot to deal with considering his home life. (Honestly I found Alya and Luka more interesting than anyone and I Just had to look up Alya's name because that's how little this is impacting me).
It's too formuliac Opens with pining for Adrian, someone gets Akumatized by Hawkmoth (at least that is interesting in all the ways they find to do that) there's a battle, Noir pines for Ladybug and they de-evilize the person end of story.
Even though I'm a huge superhero fan I never have cared for the minor change to someone's appearance being enough for us to say no one would ever know a pair of glasses on Clark Kent is good enough for us to never guess he's superman or Diana pulling her hair back into a strict bun hides her Wonder Woman identity. So I can handle the ridiculousness of Adrian, Marinette AND Hawkmoth being clueless since it's superhero 101. I'm debating stopping this recording
I liked the animation but came in closer to the end of S2 which was unhelpful and then found most of it running in order so huzzah. Now this one I really like. Compared to Ladybug which are written for the same age group, this one trusts the kids to be able to follow a more involved storyline. It's not the same formula every episode. This one is telling a story.
Luz is a bit of a goof, she would have been my fantasy loving friend had I been her age in her school. And seriously Eda is like life goals right there. Eda is sarcastic and irreverant and seriously fun. King, her demon 'dog' is adorable. Hootie's voice is fingernails on a chalk board (but I swear that's on person because I think King commented on it).
Luz is also a gay PoC which is amazing in a Disney property. While she makes eyes at a handsome adventurer early on, her romantic intentions are for Amity, a girl at Hexside school of magic. We also have better diversity in her friends too. The story line is engaging and we have a few major plot threats 1. getting Luz home to the human world 2. figuring out/breaking Eda's curse 3. What IS the emperor up to? It seems there is only going to be 2 seasons plus some 3 season 'movies' which is kinda sad.
