The cat is high

cornerofmadnessToday we learned he loves himself some catnip. He is on his back in a pile of it alternating between sleep and yapping his head off at me.
It was very warm today in the 50s and rainy but it's supposed to snow just in time for my exams next week. Fun times.
Speaking of the cat (who is now on the couch yelling at me over the top of the lap top) I got a little furious today. I wasn't entirely happy with my usual vet at the end of Kanda's life so I took Rocket to another highly recced vet and she's the one who tried to put him to sleep the moment she said he was FIV+. I took him back to my usual vet who vaccinated him and when I asked for something for fleas/worms/ticks her tech (I didn't see her as they took him in on the side) said here have Revolution. ANd he got tick after tick after tick
Well after trying to get flea/tick shit in Chillicothe this week and seeing the price I remembered hey you have a 1-800-petmeds account. Check online. That's when I learned that MOST of the cat meds DO NOT work on ticks. No wonder he got all those ticks. Revolution (at 60 fucking dollars) does NOT treat tapeworms or ticks. It's for fleas and heartworms. Okay that's fine he had that protection but I needed TAPEWORM meds (heartworms are round worms but there probably is some crossreactivity there)
So now I'm like do I need to go to a vet in Jackson? It's so much harder to get to them with my schedule. In the mean time I'll buy something that does tick and flea and fuck both local vets.
And how about another strong but not controversial opinion. Read some books from Rick Riordan Presents imprint. Seriously this imprint is putting out some great stuff. It's from Disney-Hyperion and while I do have mixed feelings about Disney but at least it's trying to up diversity at least in race. These books have Riordan's rooted in Mythology but from all around the world. I have read City of the Plague God by Sarwat Chadda, Pahua and the Soul Stealer by Lori M. Lee and Ballad & Dagger by Daniel José Older. all of the 4-5 star reads and I've just started Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee because I got Tiger Honor from Netgalley but didn't know it was a sequel to this so... (And Tiger Honor has a nonbinary lead).
And apropos of nothing have Lou Diamond Phillips JR high picture
