Yeah so I didn't. I had a bad day. When I got to work everyone stopped what they were doing to ask how I was because I was that pale and exhausted looking (I don't feel sick but I DO feel wasted. I didn't even go to the gym)
I got to the car and remembered I forgot the test to take to the testing center for a student who needs learning accommodations. I go back into the office and realize hell I haven't even PRINTED the exams. Go me. I hurriedly do that and jam the flashdrive into my scrub top where I promptly forget it.
Flash forward a half hour and I'm putting the clothes in the wash machine. I'm standing there with my scrub top in hand going I should check the pocket. No, why? You didn't use any tools in lab today. I WASHED my fucking flash drive!
But here's the weird thing. It wasn't wet when I found it in the wash machine and it's WORKING. Well everyone was in the laundromat today. God knows why. I was forced to use those horrible front loaders and more than once I'd done that and stuff in the middle is still dry. I think that's what happened here. I'm not trusting this flash to keep working but I have everything double saved on devices so all is well.
Went to the coffee shop and there was this group of people talking loudly. I put on my head phones which I bring for just this occasion and/or the music sucks that day. As I was leaving they apologized to me and we got to talking. The older fellow (cue probably 5-10 years older than me) asked are you a writing (I was writing Venom tentacle porn OMG) yes I am so is he. He invited me to the local group and wants to exchange manuscripts. He writes mysteries which is my thing. I'm like okay. I have heard the local group is uppity and mostly contemporary lit so I probably won't fit in but maybe I should check it out. What could it hurt? Oh you all write Christian romances? Hi, here's my gay urban fantasy with like someone gutted in chapter two....
Speaking of stories, let's do that Wednesday Reading thing (how is it Wednesday already?!?)
What I Just Finished Reading: Werewolf by Night by Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, a reboot of the werewolf comic of the 70s. It was all right, nice art but the Native American components felt superficial and frankly the Hopi, as far as I know, see werewolves as not good things but that's never touched on.
And Ballad and Dagger by Daniel José Older another Rick Riordan Presents imprint that was fantastic. Loved it.
What I am Currently Reading: Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee another Rick Riordan Presents imprint with a Korean mythos theme...in space. I'm on the fence about this one but I have the second one from netgalley so I feel obligated to read them both. and I'm also reading Wake the Bones by Elizabeth Kilcoyne another Netgalley ARC and i can just about feel the hot Kentucky summers. THis is set only a few hours from here and in some ways is cutting a little close to the bone.
What I Plan to Read Next: Four frakking books came from the library so one of those
