Some days it's so hard to stay positive

We have DeSantis trying to out vulnerable gay teens in Florida and Abbot in Texas trying to jail parents and doctors for providing care to trans kids and Putin going you need to level your evil up. All of these men terrify me.

I'm honestly glad I'm not leaving the country this year for vacation. I would change my fucking ticket at this point if I was. I had thought about Canada but hell even that doesn't feel safe.

I feel paralyzed on social media. I don't want to be all doom all the time. That isn't healthy but anything else feels insensitive (even though I know others want to see more than doom)


More nonsense happened at work. The Ohio river is flooding and if it's this bad now before spring, how bad is march/april going to be? Sigh. Rocket is already covered in ticks and I can't get them out one handed. ARGH

But there are good things. I wrote a sad story for comment_fic and it went to nearly 60 kudos in twenty four hours. I'm amazed and grateful. It's Prodigal Son, Her Boys (contains side character death and cancer) Find it here.

I'm trying not to think too far ahead, actually... As for what others think, post away! There's nothing you and I can do about the sorry mess of Ukraine.

As for Rocket, I recommend Vectra for cats--it works FAST and you will see the ticks fall off and stay off.

I feel these feels. The Texas and Florida bullcrap is a terrible smokescreen for other heinous acts that are coming to light, but this sort of thing keeps happening so often it's a little numbing? as much as it is infuriating. Then everything going on overseas, I don't want to bother the breeder for puppy photos because she's from Ukraine and presumably has family there (we have friends from Kyiv also), and I feel kind of helpless here beyond donating what funds I could. Just literally the room on fire and I guess I'll still go to work and do the daily routine? T_T

And you hit it. It's not like I can DO anything about any of this (of course that powerlessness feeling is not helping). I'm wondering if money donated can even GET to the Ukraine at this point.

Some parts of the country/world are a hot mess for sure.

We have so much water, too! From the snow melt and rain, we had a bunch of water-turned-ice we had to walk through/over for our walks. Thank goodness for Yaktrax.
