Bones and students

My students....seriously when a professor TELLS you for sure something will be on the test a week ahead of time. That's a gimme. The fact taht between the two classes 25% left that question blank is both baffling and infuriating.

Bones - I'll go ahead and cut this for those who might have taped it and/or won't be getting it yet.

It didn't suck as much as I thought it would but still wasn't as good as I hoped. It strayed drastically from the book but I expected that. They didn't pick montreal or Charlotte NC which is where Temperance actually practices in the book. I know that Canada doesn't exist and is just a myth (as any American, you'd cry if you knew how many of us couldn't find it on a map) and Charlotte is apparently too boring so D.C. it is.

Since Reichs (who is a forensic anthropologist) who's producing this obviously recast  as she herself would like to be (Reiches writes best selling mysteries. In those mysteries Temperance doesn't write) Since in the book Brennan doesn't kick ass or carry a gun and frankly the ending of her busting into a house and shooting someone WAY too over the top for me. Brennan has a different background here, being younger (I'll assume she doesn't have a teenaged daughter in this) and having missing parents and is clueless and emotionally detached where in the book she's not

Booth isn't in the book. Brennan has a good relationship with a Montreal homicide detective and no FBI involvement on a regular basis. I'll assume DB's character will become both a friend and potential love interest (which is in the book and a must for TV). I don't like him as much as the detective in the book mostly because he's running around disavowing the use of forensics in this day and age. I doubt any reputable cop would do that. DB's acting...he's doing Angel. Flat out Angel, right down to the expressions which doesn't say much for his range. Still, the character is likeable enough. They even made him Angel like in making him a sniper for the army yonks ago and he has to 'redeem himself' for all the lives he took and feels bad about (even mom called up and said, why is he doing Angel?)

To be honest, I liked Brennan's crew MUCH better than I liked her. I don't know the curly haired guy's name but he's kinda cute if he lost the beard (I have a thing for curly hair). Ditto with not remember the Asian woman's name but I liked her. I love Zach, and oh look another effete skinny young guy for me to bond to.

A couple last things that were annoying. DB calling her Bones and Squints all the time. It's obnoxious. I hate nicknames. And forensic anthropologists DO routinuely go to the scene. It's their JOB. In fact you often have to wait for them. You don't need special permission from the head of the FBI. And Brennan's claim that she's the only one between Montreal and D.C, I don't think so. Yes, they are rarer than other types of forensic techs but not THAT rare.

And I'm still nicely sick. I could barely stand up today in class. Let the night class go a half hour after their exam. Can barely eat. I wish I had ginger in the house for the nausea. BLECH. Taped House cause I wasn't up to watching and honestly the premise of the premiere didn't interest me.

I missed Bones because I didn't know it was on. And now that I've discovered I won't be able to see Veronica Mars, I'm casting about for things to add into my schedule. :P If you think it's worth a watch, I'll have to try to check it out.

Good review of the show. I nearly laughed aloud when Booth said he wanted to catch as many murderers as he'd killed as a sniper. I was left with pretty much an "eh" feeling after watching it. I liked it, but could probably take it or leave it. I'm not familiar with the books, so that probably helps. I'll try it out for a few more weeks.

I ws okay with it. It's better than most of the junk on TV. I'll let it ride on my viewing schedule for a while and see what happens. Often pilots are very shaky

What is it with the sick? I'm sick too although feeling better then I was yesterday.

Bones...well I don't have the background you do to make the judgements you did, but I found it kind of eh too. I'll probably watch next week, give it a few to really hook me in, but I wasn't excited about it.

If you get the WB (I know cursed evil thing) You should try watching Supernatural. It's a genre show. This weeks ep was about a 'woman in white' and actually really good. I went in expecting to dislike it because I don't like the lead actor (or rather I didn't care for the character he played in Gilmore Girls) and found it easily the most interesting show I watched last night.

I can't watch Supernatural and Bones because Dish won't let you watch one channel and tape another unless you want to pay 10$ more a month and I don't....besides I'm at work so I can only tape one. Pout. I'll give Bones a chance.

I have no idea what's up with the sick. I know everyone in the game is sick but Lee. And like two or three other members of my Flist are sick too.

Bones...meh. DB did look pretty, but I'm only a middling BD fan and it's not enough to make me tune in again when the main character annoys me so much.

My hubby and I have come down with colds. Its a conspiracy, I tell you.

I wasn't paying attention to the day and missed the show. I haven't watched an entire episode of anything since Angel went off the air (except my Buffy and Angel tapes). I'm not sure I want to get back in the habit.

Although, I will probably watch James on Smallville.
