Okay today, I did the Mothman…festival that is. Most of you know I live fairly close to Point Pleasant, WV, home of the Mothman (yes from that Richard Gere movie). In size and scope….the festival was a big disappointment in that it’s just one measly block of people selling nothing but Mothman junk and no food (I was starting. I was planning on filling up on Faire Food because well I live for that crap). Seriously they might think about adding you know regular fair type stuff to expand it a bit.

On the other hand, I had a very good time. What they lacked in festival boothage they made up for in other stuff, like showing the Mothman Prophecies  at the local theatre and the Mothman museum and most especially all the speakers they had at the water front. They have a little amphitheatre set up on the banks of the Kanawha River, which was nice if all cement.

One of the speakers was Rosemary Ellen Guiley, she of the 30 odd paranormal books. She did a thing on vampires, UFO’s and the Mothman connection. I spent time talking to her before, during and after her presentation. We talked about her books, my book, and our psychic abilities. She gave me a cd of stuff that might help in publication. I told her how I used some of her encyclopedia for my stories and then got an autographed copy of Moonscapes  She was very nice.

Another speaker was Susan Sheppard who writes local ghost story books and runs the “Haunted Parkersburg (Wv)” tours. She told the story of Woodrow Derenberger and his encounter with the alien Indrid Cold and later encounters with MIB’s. She even had burned copies of the original interview tapes with Mr. Derenberger from the 60’s. She was also very nice AND invited me to join up with either of the two ghost hunting groups she belongs to. So I will be emailing her to find out more. One of the groups did end up on “Most Scariest Places” in Bluefield WV. (which was where that other school I interviewed at is). So wheee. I might be joining a ghost-hunting group. Also got an autographed book from her, Cry of the Banshee (apparently we're plagued with them around here).

Spent a lot of money…and sadly real money, which I don’t have a lot of now as opposed to credit because no one took it. On the upside I now have a Christmas gift for my whole family including a Mothman shirt for Dad and John and a Mothman Christmas bulb for mom (she collects ornaments) and a stuffed Mothman for me to go with my stuff Hodags.

Also learned that originally the Mothman was called ‘The Bird” by locals (well I knew that before I went there. He was named by a cheeky reporter after a character in the popular  Batman series of the day (Thought you’d get a kick out of thatA2Z Mom since you knew that Batgirl’s first battle was against the Mothman).  I also met the man who made the Mothman statute that I shared a pic of a few months ago. I was gonna stay for the hayride but it wanted to rain...

And I swear Sears is gonna get another earful from me. The pick up people were a half hour late today. They only give me a refund fee for the washer, NOT the dryer and added a 35$ restocking fee. I hit the roof. I called up Nationals. They said 'but we closed this case' REOPEN it, Now! I said not only did they cancel the first pick up day, they came late today and not only did they NOT waive the 40$ delivery fee originally now you've tacked on 35$ more. I am NOT paying 75$ for something I do NOT even own. And where's my dryer refund? She says well she'll have to call the local store, and for me to wait on the line. NO.You deal with it. I'm late because I had to wait on YOUR delivery people. Get those charges off my card. She says she'll call the store then call me and leave me a message. Guess what, Monica lied. Time to call Sears again.

Glad you had a good time. Sorry to hear about Sears' shit. My dad worked for them for 40 years. Wish he could have been your salesguy ('course he worked in Auto).

Sears is STILL giving me a hassel. This is the first time I've ever had this much trouble with them.

Otherwise today was a good time

I've heard stories about Sears before and I don't shop there. Unfortunately, I don't think any place is reliable anymore. Service is no longer a valued commodity.

I'm glad you enjoyed the mothman festival. Ghost-hunter, huh? That should be interesting. I'm expecting lots of reports!

Agreed

As for the ghost hunting something tells me the most of the meetings will be way to far away for me to attend but if i get in on some fo the traveling show I'd be happy. I've already have lots of ghost stories.

I can't believe all the trouble you're having with that dryer thing. It's unbelievable.

(oops, that's kitten-walking-on-the-keyboard talk there..)

And exciting about the ghost hunting stuff, and meeting those people! If you do go on any ghost hunts (and I hope you do!) we want lots of reports and photos!

wow, the worst luck with that washer and dryer.

I like to watch scary stuff from a distance. My imagination is way too good to get too close to any of it. In the town I grew up in I had this friend who liked to go to all of the haunted places at night. She had a book, Most Hanted places in Texas or something like that. She invited me so many times, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I know I'd pass out or run away screaming. lol

I'm starting a new W/D saga now. Kill me please.

Ghosts have found me since I was 6. Oddly I've only rarely been scared (the house in WI for instance) I like tempting fate.
