I got up before the alarm. I managed to get there right in time for my appointment. I was a little worried about being late because a) construction b) Columbus traffic (I gave myself 2 hours to go 75 miles) c) the valet for the clinic was backed up a BLOCK d) OMG no places to park in the garage and I had to park on the roof!

But that was the worst of it. I was done with testing in an hour so I got back in the car and went the 2 miles to the Short North to one of my favorite local iconic restaurants, the Happy Greek. I even found an on street handicapped parking look and parallel parked perfectly for a change. I think I shocked the hell out of them showing up 5 minutes after opening. You could tell they weren't ready for patrons yet. Got my gyro. Could not find the coffee house though and was jonesing for caffeine.

Since I still had an hour before my doctor's appointment (as I said they put testing in the morning and him in the afternoon because I come so far) so I drove back, parked and went into the hospital side of Grant to go to the cafeteria for coffee. The guard almost didn't let me in. (You're not a patient. Dude, yes I am Vascular Surgery, call them). Got back to the office in time for another patient and his wife to hear me say to the office receptionist I was from 100 miles south near the WV/KY border. What town they ask? Turns out THEY'RE from Jackson too. (apparently none of us trust our local vascular surgeon)

I was told my leg is perfect in regards to blood flow. See you in six months so that's a big yay (yeah I have to stay on the blood thinners for life but that's par for the course with a stent) When I told the doc I was going to Schmidt's he gave me a prescription for a cream puff that I promptly filled (I haven't eaten it yet because they gave me so much food I have dinner for tomorrow too).

I went from there to Dublin (my preferred place to hang out in Columbus) got a wildberry Lavendar ice cream cone from Jeri's (they put in extra butterfat to make the ice cream even less healthy but so damn tasty). The Trader Joe's and Whole Foods I like are also in Dublin.

I bought my weight in cheese and beer. I also stopped at Nordstrom's Rack to see the ugliest damn clothes. Also this one has decided to get rid of the 'stigma' of a plus section by having ALL sizes on one rack. Yeah that took forever. I'd rather have my sizes by themselves so I don't have to weed through 1001 size 2s

I also went to DW Warehouse. I did find a potential all black leather shoe from Sketcher's L.A. street but the black shoes were a half size too small. They only had my size in neon yellow and fire truck red. thanks no.

So let me tell you about Schmidt's. Okay technically Schmidt's sausage haus und restaurant. It's been in Columbus's German Village (one of the most sought after areas of the town, absolutely adorable, love it there) forever. It started (in a different location) as a meat packing plant in 1866. It was shut down and turned into a restaurant 100 years later. They still do make their own sausages.

When it comes to German food, I'm not a huge fan. More accurately not a huge fan of how America does it (as I've never been to Germany and not entirely sure how they differ) because I'm not a fan of pork and definitely not of sausages. I usually get sauerbraten or chicken 'schnitzel' if I don't get a sandwich. I got the schnitzel and it was TWO chicken breasts smothered in beer cheese, tons of braised spiced red cabbage and spaetzle. It was so much food that after I was full I still had one full breast and enough cabbage and spaetzle to have another dinner.

From there I went to the casino. I was proud of myself. I hadn't forgotten my player's card...and it didn't work so I STILL had to go to the customer service. I sat down at a new to me machine, three pulls I hit free games and tripled my money. I took it and ran.

It was a good day (that said my perfect parallel park job must have used up ALL my parking ability because every other park job (all in your usual head in places) were so bad I had to get back in the car and fix it every time....

Hehehehe

I'm glad that most of the day went smoothly! You deserve kudos for that parallel parking job. I hate parallel parking. So much food! (That's the main reason I like to go on vacation, lol!) Yay for casino luck! Oh, and for good doctor news! I hope you have a safe trip back today (I'm presuming).

You have a lot of poor luck, so it seems like it's about time something went your way!
