Even more rain
Nov. 12th, 2022 09:55 pmand I shouldn't bitch because it was only 37 degrees today. That could have been a prodigious early snow fall.
It was a weird morning. I woke up at my usual time. Rolled over, reached for my manga to finish so it could go back to the library today and fell back asleep until 10 AM. Yikes. I race around and back up everything I need for the sojourn to Jackson, library books, work out clothes, grocery bags, computer and NO breakfast because it's blood draw day.
I get to the clinic and it's closed....til 11 AM. Okay only 10 minutes. I sit and read and the parking lot went from 2 cars to 20 and the line was halfway around the building. I peer inside and only the urgent care has any lights on, not the lab side. I say fuck it and go to the coffee shop. I have to go to work early Tuesday so I'll just pop down to the clinic down that way then (as early is 1130)
The coffee shop was shockingly busy but I got a table ...and the words still didn't come easy but finally I got them down, not as many as I want but still. Went to the library and then was going to the gym but between the cold and the rain I was hurting so I said no (I regret that now).
Go shopping, order my turkey breast for Thanksgiving (Kroger's does this rotissiere breast that is fantastic) forget shit I need, go to CVS and they don't give me my prilosec. I'm like why not? I called about this last night and you said I couldn't refill it because it's already here (but no one had called to tell me that and it's NOT supposed to be autofilled either but whatever). Oh well we only hold it so long before restocking it. I said yeah two weeks and you KNEW I was coming today. I told you so. So now I have to wait on these dumb asses. Should have went to the gym then..sigh. I hadn't eaten yet so I went to get lunch.
Came home and it took half the afternoon to finish rewriting my test and I'm still not happy with it.
And at least the democrats maintain the control of the senate. GenZ voted their asses off. (so naturally social media is swamped with republicans screaming raise the voting age to 25-30. Dudes if you expect 18 year olds to die for this country expect them to be able to vote for it).
16292 / 50000 words. 33% done!
Snippet - (thanks to
ysilme for this baddie)
“I came across the nachzehrer when I did temporary duty in Germany,” Howell said. “But they were in their graves. We had to dig them up and destroy them. What’s with the pigs?”
“I’m getting to that. The sound you heard is the nachzehrers masticating their shrouds. Hence their name,” Javier said. “The pig is their essence. They can project it out into the world. They don’t rise from their graves like the more popular idea of what a vampire is. I’m sure the nachzehrer got a hook into Dan. You’re not tired Dan.”
“Care to disagree,” Dan mumbled.
Javier thinned his lips. “You’re losing your life energy. The creature is still feeding off of you.”
Dan leapt up, wobbled and stared to collapse. Al and Grace caught him, lowering him to the couch. “Damn it. How do we stop this?”
“We’re going to have to kill it.”
“Every mission I have to dig up a body,” Howell huffed.
