I'm losing the battle against the icky

cornerofmadnessI am getting sicker. I have mentally canceled going to Galaxy con unless a miracle happens and over all it's for the best. It's shit timing. I have finals to write and they keep warning how bad the USPS is going to be this holiday season. I need to get all these gifts wrapped, packed and mailed.
Today was rough because I got exhausted to go with the occasional cough and the idiot sore throat. I didn't make it thru all the reviews I promised to make as my voice failed (I'll get those tomorrow) I'm not feverish (my temp was 95.7 way to be a reptile) I think the exhaustion today was my bad choices.
My bad choice was lunch. Since I had to go to work on my day off, I went south to Gallipolis got my fossil pictures from the library (will share over the weekend) and went for Chinese as I haven't had any since August. There isn't good food around here. China One is a buffet and very popular. I haven't been there in a few years and they had moved to bigger digs. Yep same piss poor quality food (Not sure why it is so popular) about the only thing worth eating was the soup and crab rangoon but the overall low quality high corn starch food soared my blood sugar (no rice, I can't eat it).
I did go to the Pop culture story (new) in Point Pleasant too. I saw it during the Mothman fest but the line was around the frakking block. Glad I didn't wait in it because the store had very little pop culture, mostly dumb t-shirts, a few mothman shirts but it did have a big vinyl collection I'll have to tell a friend about.
The Popsugar Reading challenge 2023 reading list dropped today here. I am tremendously disappointed in it. A good third are repeated prompts and several were prompts I hated the first time (a lot of people are complaining so it's just not me) So to that end anyone have a forbidden romance or romance with overweight characters or books with rabbits on the cover or A book written during NaNoWriMo or a book that started as fanfic you want to rec?

I bought myself a tea advent calendar from Adagio.com andsilvrethorn bought me one from yawn brew.com so expect a month of tea reviews
Adagio - Honeybush pumpkin chai. I have had this one before. It's quite tasty. I dislike rooibos but this tree bark/root caffeine free stuff takes the place of rooibos in my book. This one needs a bit more chai flavor but over all it's good
Yawn - Pancake Stack. It's black tea sweetened with maple syrup. It smells like pancakes for sugar. It was a sweeter tea. Did it taste like pancakes? No but that could be my sickness acting up. My taste isn't perfect. still worth it

“And if he wasn’t the most absent minded person I know, he probably would have.” Dan clenched the towel and stood up. He held out his free hand and Al deposited the key in it. “And you never told me why you’re here.”
“It can’t because we wanted to ogle you two?” Al smirked.
“You yes, Grace not so much.” Dan pushed past her.
“We wanted to go out for Chinese before the dance and wanted to know if you two wanted to come with.”
“The answer is always yes when it’s Chinese or Indian food,” Howell said.
“Sadly, no Indian food here.” Grace pouted.
“A bloody crime.”
“I’m up for Chinese,” Dan said, hurrying down the hall.
“Great and no need to hold that towel on so tight, Dan. You can let a little skin show,” Al called after him.
He groaned and let the towel slip off his hip a little. “Like this?”
She whistled at him and he dived into his room. She was going to be the death of him. Dan pulled the curtain shut so no one got a free show and dressed very quickly. One of them knocked on his door.
“You pretty yet, Dan?” Grace asked.
“He’s always pretty but he is also slow,” Al added.
He yanked the door open. “I’m ready.” It took a second to realize something was wrong. “Howell’s not coming?”
“We impressed on him that if he wants the poetry girls to be impressed enough to give up anything they might know in regards to our inquiry, he might want to be a bit more spruced up,” Grace said sweeping her eyes over Dan’s ripped jeans and his black Hawaiian shirt with its white orchids. He was fairly sure Magnum wore one like it. “You’ll do.”
“I’m not done entirely.” He fished out his dangling earring that ironically looked like a key dangling from a heart and pulled on several of his thin leather strap bracelets. “There. How’s that?”
“Less eye searing than usual,” Al said.
“I could change,” he threatened good maturely.
