Christmas Eve
Dec. 24th, 2022 10:05 pmI spent most of the day in my jim jams as we made prime rib which is a low slow cook, not much to do. We still have frigid temps.
We only have my brother and his wife here for the day. It was very nice. The food was good. We had lobster skewers and scallops as an appetizer. the only thing that wasn't good was the sweet potato which remained hard little rocks.
the gifts were nice. Sheets, books, movies and a beautiful leather computer bag which I must send back. It was vacuum sealed...in some sort of frakking oil. It's miserable. It's leaking oil everywhere and looking rancid even mildewed or something. Sigh. I really really wanted this bag and it's from Amazon so it'll probably be a bitch to return.
But the best gift (pictures to come) was a complete surprise. My parents along with Lucky Uncle and his wife pulled from an idea I posted on Facebook where someone takes an old dollhouse and makes a goth haunted house from it. They took a huge old barn and crafted me a big haunted house. I absolutely love it.
I have an original holiday story from my 1980s monster hunter universe. I hope you enjoy.
Title Fire Hazards
Summary - Grace, Alessia, Dan and Howell have a rare moment off from their monster-hunting jobs. Grace is thrilled to learn all their cultural traditions for the holidays but what is fire involved with everything.
The story is here. and it is locked on AO3 so if you want to read it and you don't have an account PM me.
Day 24 of tea
Today is the last day. My advent adventure is at an end and it rather ends on a whimper. Two more freaking rooibos teas.
Adagio tear- White Chocolate Peppermint - rooibos, honeybush, cocoa nibs, white chocolate chips, peppermint leaves, spearmint leaves, chicory, cinnamon and licorice. The mints overpower the rooibos (yay) so this was a lot like a peppermint chai and it was pretty good.
Yawn Brew - Ruby Amaretto - rooibos, calendula and cornflowers. Um amaretto suggestions almonds. There is zero almond taste. This is ultimately disappointing.
