Good thing Mom wanted ice cream cake

cornerofmadnessWe went down there and the cake was nearly soup. Somehow or other the upright freezer's door wasn't shutting fully. Gravity was pulling it open. Dad and I had to work the little feet on it and tilt it the other way so gravity forced the door shut. It would have been a mess come morning had she not wanted that cake.
Mom's got a sinus infection now and FINALLY she's not fighting me about going to the doc. She's going in the morning.
And because of that we did nothing but put away a lot of the food gifts I got them and washed clothes. That needed doing. I still have more to go (fascinating stuff I know)

fandomtrees and writing something for comment_fic I found one request at the trees looking for us to talk about our original horror/SF characters and I'm like wow, really? I can do this. I'm just going to give you all a gentle poke toward the spreadsheet to see if there is anything you might like to gift to someone.
I am sending back my beautiful computer bag. It won't stop leaking oil everywhere. Sigh. It's so bizarre it has 4 stars on Amazon and like 18K in reviews but some DO in fact talk about a) how beautiful it is and they love it but also b) WTF is this OIL??? It stains everything. I guess we're the unlucky ones.
I cooked up some of their gifts today, the venison sausage (yuck, it was coarse ground and I couldn't eat it, dad liked it better but even he said it was too coarse ground. Ah well.), onion-cheese spatzle (that was good) and premade Rotkohl (Bavarian red cabbage) I could have eaten nothing but that. It was good and at least I figured it out (all the directions were in German and most of what I know of that language is scheiße, Morgenmuffel (which I am) and Schadenfreude)
