Ocean Drabbles
Oct. 11th, 2005 02:44 pmWriting tests almost sucked my creativity dry.
Angel 1900 – Homeless
May he never cross another ocean. He reeked of being closed in for too long, from his own lack of concern about hygiene, something that was somewhat foreign to him. He had always taken pride in his appearance but the damn gypsies had made that so unimportant. Darla had finished off the vulnerable parts of him. He had traveled over oceans with her, had travel them to get to her in China only to be met with harsh rejection. Now the waters had carried him to his new home. Ironically it was his lover’s old one. Would anything of her be left?
Xander – S2 Shudders
He used to enjoy beach parties, even if he couldn’t surf in spite of being a native Californian who lived only minutes from the ocean. It required a certain athleticism he never had. He and Jesse had loved just girl watching and some volleyball. He still remembered the time a big wave had stripped him and his friend right in front of a mortified Willow.
But after the thing with the swim team, Xander could barely look at the water without feeling sick. He had come close to living in it for life. The mere thought made him shudder.
Angel - S4 Angelus’ Boy.
In his mind he felt the gentle rocking of the waves even though he had been on dry land for days now. As a young boy in Galway he had learned fast how treacherous the ocean could be. As Angelus, it was an obstacle that took too long to cross. But it had taken his son to make him fear the ocean. It wouldn’t take his mind long to pervert the rocking into a cold battering hell that he might never truly escape from. Might his son truly be Angelus’ child and not his? His punishment suggested it.
Connor – Post NFA Searching
His first real vacation and he still couldn’t get far enough away to escape the thoughts of his father. Gratitude for his normal life had faded into self-doubts and self-loathing. Why hadn’t Angel just changed him and kept him with him? What was so horrible about him that his father had dumped him with strangers? Was it the things he had done?
Connor gazed out over the ocean as he fitted the mask over his face. He toppled over backwards into the watery depths above the reef. Maybe he’d find his answers under the depths that might well have condemned him.
