It was a beautiful day
Apr. 10th, 2023 10:08 pm70 degrees, bright and sunny. Too bad I was at work. Ha. (and this weekend when I'm supposed to be outside it's meant to rain). The only bad thing was my knee gave out at work and I fell into my desk, hitting my tea pot and scalding myself and then it did it again at Kroger and I hit the bathroom wall. I am not pleased but I'm fine so shaking it off.
SO I'm torn between two stories for
unconventionalcourtship and naturally I've started both instead of you know, finishing my current WIPS or starting my charity fiction or that thing I want to do for the trailer park anthology.
So I found this one Reunion at Greystone Manor which I feel like could be a canon compliant post-series story (which usually you don't get with this challenge). Hunter and Willow are definitely high school sweethearts. Now to figure out what broke them up and what secret is in the house.
Then there's this Hunting A Hometown Killer It also could be a canon compliant post-series story Gil/Jessica. Literally all I'd have to switch up is FBI for detective and make this friends to lovers
Also these don't need to be novels, Dana. Just saying.
The Good :
the opening thank yous and the closing good bye
the body horror - holy hell, I'm going to be seeing this in my nightmares
no one died (okay belos but he needed to and King's dad but until this episode we already thought that was a case)
the plot it really worked for me. YES the resolution with The Collector came too fast and easy but they only had an hour. What more could we expect?
the wrap up giving us a glimpse of the future of everyone. That was truly satisfying. Woo Hoo canonical Lilith the Raven Harpy, Hunter the palisman carver (I was hoping for that), EVERYONE in the teens' group getting a Flapjack tattoo, Darius being Hunter's dad (and making us believe Hunter is going to be Amity's stepbrother soon enough), the idea that Eda and Raine wed (she's at least wearing their earring)
The Less Good (because none of it was bad):
I really wanted to see more of the whole Hexside crew BUT this show started with Luz Eda and King. It's their story really and so I wasn't too disappointed. It was as it should be.
That said I wish Lilith and Hooty had more of a role. That felt a little more off balanced that they didn't.
The Hopeful - (putting this outside the cut in case someone wants to stream the finale or the show on YouTube as the creators suggested it might help prove there is interest for spin offs) and that's the hopeful, there IS a chance for a spin off or two. Some suggested their kids but I'd rather it NOT be that. The show ends at them being 17. Why not their later teen years and give us the characters we love? Another suggestion has been Eda and Raine (and Darius and Alador) as teens. Wouldn't mind that but it's harder to put a villain into that because the big bad has been the Emperor.
Music Monday - okay yes it's music but it's more. It's filksong. If you're like me growing up in the 80s, filk was big in the sci-fi/fantasy groups and I still love it. Here's the latest from one of my favorite ST filker
Here's the first one I ever found by him
so now you know what I do at night....just like it was me in my college dorm listening to this on cassette tape
which just makes me flash back to Doctor Demento and stuff like this
