So here I am
Oct. 22nd, 2005 04:20 pmAll back like promised...well, I don't have YIM up yet but I will. It's still storming off and on and since that's over an hour down load I don't want to attempt it until the weather clears.
Besides I could use the computer time without interupptions (I'm too curious to offline people for the most part). In the month I was sans computer I hand wrote over 250 pages of various stories. Now to type on this child's toy of a keyboard.
As promised my rant against the local humane society/dog pound. Remember that starved lab I mention back at Labro Day well she's back. So I talk to my neighbors and Maria said she's already called the animal pound once and they did nothing. Too Loud Sex from next door tells me he thinks the owner lives up the county road atop the hill but agrees the animal is abused. I go in and call. Well last time I looked on line for human societies and found none but one in WV in the on-line yellow pages so I don't have the net yet and I go to the actual phone book and there isn't even a number for that humane society OR for any kind of animal control. I call a Vet in Jackson since vets know this kind of thing and sure they did. She gave me the numbers for the pound and for the humane society and tells me neither of them will answer for the phone or help me then sarcastically adds welcome to Southeast Ohio. I call the humane society first figuring they're the best chance for this very friendly lab to live and they're gone until next week. So I call the animal control and get a very belligerent answering machine message. We ONLY pick up dogs. Don't call us for any other kind of animal (Um...what? you're animal control!) If you don't leave your name and number we will delete your message. If you know the owner be prepared to take us there and show us (and get killed for my troubles? Thanks). If you have animals be prepared to show us all their tags and paperwork (I'm not calling about MY pets you twits) and it went on from there. Very unfriendly. I leave my name, number, tell them the address, tell them they've been called before. Yeah, you guessed it, no call back, no signs of them just like the vet said. Sigh.
And something happened to our water here. It suddenly smells/tastes like chlorine

Date: 2005-10-24 04:05 am (UTC)There's a young cat that's been haunting me for the past week. It nearly let me touch it once, then smelled the dog on my hands and ran away. I haven't seen it for a day or so, which makes me worried. I'm sure that someone dumped the poor thing in the park because that's where I saw it at first. If it would just stay in one place, I could possibly get a trap from the humane society and at least get it out of the cold.
*SIGH*
I hate people.

Date: 2005-10-24 04:17 am (UTC)There's a new feral kitten here. I can't get near it. There IS a cat shelter near my school. I should just bundle them all up and take them there but the only ones left outside of the friendly calico are too wild

Date: 2005-10-24 04:21 am (UTC)Aww, poor kitties. Can you get a humane trap from the cat shelter? Or are they not taking animals either?
