The Hills Have Eyes
Sep. 9th, 2023 11:00 pmOr at the very least Trumpers. Today I went to the Ohio Hills Country festival in Wellston which is one town over from Jackson. Now that there are Trumpers is not a shock here. That said I was disturbed that a) only the republicans had a booth b) worse they weren't promoting ALL the candidates up for presidency, just Trump (I actually do believe some of these people will try to uprise if it's decided Trump legally can't run).
The vendors were worse than even the Apple Festival offerings. Literally five. (not counting the food trucks) three doing t-shirts/sweatshirts, one doing art, mostly of cardinals, and one doing crocheted stuff. I need none of these things. I might have bought the sweatshirts (because almost all of it was halloween themed in the clothing stuff) but no large sizes at all. (eye rolls) and one group had Trump's mug shot on shirts done up as Wanted posters. Wanted for President. (crosses road to get away from these people).
The whole time gospel-bluegrass is playing (actually the group was good) and I'm sitting there thinking huh, I had no idea that there were this many stores and restaurants in Wellston that bear further investigating (but the town still rather depresses me) There was a nice car show and they had a people's choice option. How fun. I loved one car that was the same age as me (and was also the 56'th entry) and one model A ford green and black that the women were gussying up and it was their great grandfather's. He bought it in Wellston in 1923 and it's never left their family in 100 years.
I found an Egyptian food truck. I was only going to get the balah el sham fritters as I don't bake much and I have been eating falafel all week as I tell the cook after startling him (he was outside the truck lowering prices) He asked where did I get them and said sometimes I make them. Which got him talking about fava beans that are used in the Egyptian type and I thought heck, it's nearly 2, I'm hungry why not. He was SO excited to have someone to talk to, telling me all about how this cheap protein helped the poor in Egypt and asking me how I make my wraps and how he was going to load up mine. It (and the balah) were very tasty, worth the money.
Before I put up the last of my Cincinnati pictures, let me say happy birthday to

Truly it is. It's a garden type cemetery, designed for visiting, even picnicking out with your relatives
I think this might be Gabriel and his horn
This is the Dexter brothers, whiskey barons (Mr. Peachey was right across from this)
Love this bronze
You can read her tablet but I think this is in German so...
Lady of the Lake
McDonald, inside had a mosaic floor
Neat mausoleum
Fancy pants
Not sure but this might be gold leaf
Not fancy but confusing. Why is this one stone perpendicular and squeezed into the others?
Dexter from across one of the several natural springs in this cemetery
This child's grave was unnerving
Mother and children
They sure spent a lot of money to be dead in
Another lovely bronze
Mother and child
This one is so intricate but a) I hit it when the lighting was bad b) battery died, this has a child here and then an older sibling perhaps, it's almost a fantasy tree but with an 'altar boy' on the side. weird, intriguing, I want to know more
