because I fell asleep in it. Geez. Today was okay except for another book store battle that I don't want to talk about it.

However there is so much fun today and that's because fandomtrees revealed today and I was straight up SHOCKED by my gifts. I never get 5 gifts and I figured they'd all be icons. NONE were icons, In fact three of the five were little original stories all based on my cryptid request. I got one Owl House story (YAY!) and the absolutely cutest Jean-Luc Picard and a puppy piece of art. You can find them all here.

I fixed the bad chapter in my Slaying in the 80s novel. Even though I have it in the critique group I know I'm going to need a beta reader who can read it all without too many breaks (the critique group is every 6 weeks) because I think there is a cohesiveness issue that I can't put my finger on.

Was just told today that my novel is out Feb 20th. This weekend is reading the galley proofs for that AND my story in the Anna Karenina Isn't Dead anthology. Busy busy but I might have tomorrow off because it's supposed to be snowpocalypse out there (so far no)

My new goal is to finish a series of short stories I started for my sister back in... 2004? 2007? Unclear but a LOOOONG time ago.

And complete some embrodiery projects for Christmas gifts. Today since I'm home (pretty sure it was my kidney stones acting up), I'm going to clean off my TV tray in my office and work on putting patterns on fabric.

It will allow me to do my job, but it's a good sized jump in pay and will let my principal brag on me. I'd only be the second librarian in district to have a doctrate and the only one at the elementary level. Although after the news I got yesterday... everything is kinda up in the air.

though I hope things aren't bad job wise (god knows with education) That does make sense. I wondered as years ago my aunt's advanced degree was a hinderance because she DID have to be paid more. Good luck if you go for it

No things aren't bad for me. Our school is old and so is another one. So they're talking about combining them into one school. And building a brand new school. The thing is... only one librarian can have a job in the new school. So I don't know what's going to happen. It's contingent on some other stuff--getting a bill to pass, 5 years, depends on where they put the school. So I'm trying not to stress over it.

Yeah. And then I found out... it wasn't the kidney stones. So we changed a medicine. Trying to see if that's the issue.

It really is, but I'm just trying to be the best librarian I can be for the next however many years. And who knows... maybe the other librarian will retire or something.
